Owned and operated by Simonetta “Sam” Rainieri and Tom Allen, this is the Palms Springs location of a third generation family business. In 1929, Sam’s grandparents emigrated from Italy to start one of, if not the first Italian gelato shop in the Netherlands. Today, her uncle Edi and cousin Didi continue to run Gelato Granucci in Holland, supplying Gelato to over 50 gelato shops. Edi also won the Coppa d’ora, one of the most prestigious gelato making awards, in 1996.
