The independent analysts at Great Place to Work® first certified Desert Oasis Healthcare (DOHC) in 2018, based on extensive ratings provided by its employees in anonymous surveys. COVID-19 proved that a great workplace is about employee-employer partnership as much as a physical location. As the pandemic began changing all of our lives in early 2020, DOHC clinical staff jumped into action to serve patients at locations throughout the Coachella Valley and the Greater Morongo Basin communities of the hi-desert. For DOHC employees who don’t regularly interact with patients, home offices became the “new normal” for many working behind-the-scenes.

“With the continuation of this once-in-a-century pandemic, our employees rise to the occasion every day and we are committed to each and every one of them, as they serve our patients,” says Dr. Marc Hoffing, DOHC Medical Director. “Whether clinical staff or those working in administrative functions, we are gratified that our employees continue to find DOHC a Great Place to Work and we will do our best to live up to that standard.”

When surveyed, 90% of DOHC employees overall said it was a Great Place to Work, providing these assessments:

·         “I feel good about the ways we contribute to the community.” – 93%

·          “When you join the company, you are made to feel welcome.” – 93%

·          “When I look at what we accomplish, I feel a sense of pride.” – 92%

·          “Management is honest and ethical in its business practices.” – 91%

·          “Our facilities contribute to a good working environment.” – 91%

DOHC established the COVID-19 Task Force and the Morale Committee to assure a feeling of connection among all employees and management. Recently, for the second consecutive year in place of the usual physical event, they held the annual Employee Appreciation Banquet as a virtual event, to recognize employees’ collective work and shine a light on those who went above-and-beyond for DOHC patients. “We have long said ‘Treat your employees like they make a difference … and they will,’” said Dr. Hoffing. “Our employees have never slowed in their commitment to service excellence to our patients, even with the pandemic. To me, each of them is a hero.”
