The Palm Springs AIDS Memorial is entering its final phase, and a major new commitment from DAP Health is giving the project powerful momentum. The organization has announced a $100,000 matching gift designed to help complete the Memorial ahead of its December 1, 2026 unveiling on World AIDS Day. Every community donation made from now until the goal is reached will be matched dollar‑for‑dollar, doubling the impact of local support at a moment when fabrication and site preparation are already underway in Downtown Park.
The Palm Springs AIDS Memorial Task Force has spent years building broad community backing for the project, with contributions from the City of Palm Springs and nearly 900 individuals, businesses, and organizations. Approximately $200,000 remains to fully fund the Memorial and its accompanying Online Experience, which will expand access to stories, history, and education surrounding HIV/AIDS in the Coachella Valley and beyond.
DAP Health CEO David Brinkman emphasized the deep roots of the organization’s commitment. Born from a community that refused to let people face the AIDS crisis alone, DAP Health continues to champion compassionate care and remembrance. Brinkman notes that the Memorial will serve as a permanent place to honor lives lost, recognize long‑term survivors, and acknowledge the caregivers, advocates, healthcare workers, and loved ones who shaped the region’s response to HIV/AIDS.
Task Force spokesman Dan Spencer echoed that sentiment, highlighting DAP Health’s early and ongoing support. With the new matching challenge, every donation now carries twice the impact, offering residents and supporters a meaningful opportunity to help complete a landmark that will educate, inform, and inspire future generations.
Once finished, the Palm Springs AIDS Memorial will provide a dedicated space in Downtown Park for reflection, storytelling, and community connection. Its Online Experience will broaden that mission, offering digital access to personal histories, archival materials, and educational resources.
