The nomination form and the criteria are available online at www.pshumanrightscommission.com. The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday,  Dec. 8. The awards recognize people and organizations for their work promoting human rights in our local community. The Commissioners themselves also make nominations.

The Commission is interested in learning about any local citizens or organizations that have worked or volunteered to foster equality, ensure human rights or have fought against hate crimes or any kind of ethnic, religious, sexual or other types of discrimination. The Commission requests that nominees be from the Coachella Valley. Please submit completed nomination forms to Jay.Virata@palmspringsca.gov

The Commission will present the awards at its Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 meeting which will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall. The public is invited to attend.

The Palm Springs Human Rights Commission is a nine-member commission of volunteer citizens appointed by the City Council for three-year terms. It meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month via teleconference. Meetings are open to the public and anyone with a human rights issue or question is invited to participate and speak in the public comment period that begins each meeting.
