Brian Rix, principal with Burke Rix Communications, recently was elected Board Chair of The LGBT Community Center of the Desert, announced Mike Thompson, CEO. He replaces Randy Lowe, who served as Board Chair for seven years and has stepped down to be Chair Emeritus.
“I am honored to be helping to lead The Center as it continues to serve as a vibrant resource for the LGBT community of the Coachella Valley,” said Rix.
Rix holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cal State Long Beach and a law degree from the University of San Diego. Burke Rix Communications is a Coachella Valley based firm specializing in public affairs advocacy, public relations, political campaigns and fundraising, community outreach and event management.Rix was formerly on the national Board of the Human Rights Campaign and has been active in many LGBT organizations and campaigns.
Other officers elected were Vice Chair Mary Sue Allen, Vice President of Human Resources for UPS West Region; SecretaryAl Jones, former Vice President for Postsecondary Collaboration atAchieve/PARCC, and Treasurer Mary Ann McLaughlin, Associate Vice President of Patient Care Services at Eisenhower Medical Center.
