The 2021 Gay Days at Disneyland are set to take place Friday, September 17 to Sunday, September 19. In March 2020, Mini Gay Day was the last event at Disneyland before the lockdown, so it seems fitting that Gay Days is the first event back at the resort since its reopening! The event is expected to attract thousands of LGBT park-hoppers from California and all over the country. They will enjoy Disneyland in a way that it can only be experienced during Gay Days. RuPaul’s Drag Race favorite, Jackie Cox, serves as the weekend’s host.

Friday will be Broadway night with two icons of the stage. “An Intimate Conversation with Chita Rivera” will feature the Broadway legend sitting down with theater historian Eddie Shapiro to discuss her storied career, including starring in the original productions of West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, and Kiss of the Spider Woman. Friday, September 17 at 6:00 PM at Disney’s Grand Californian Tickets are $30 and $50 and are available now. Hotel. Proceeds will benefit Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS.

At 8:00, “An Evening with Audra McDonald” will feature the Good Fight star and record-breaking six-time Tony winner in concert at the Grand Californian Hotel, joined by music director and pianist Andy Einhorn. McDonald, frequently performs in cavernous venues like the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Carnegie Hall, so the opportunity to see her in an intimate setting is quite rare. McDonald earned Tony Awards for her work in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, A Raisin in the Sun, Ragtime, Master Class and Carousel. Her work on stage also includes Tony-nominated performances in 110 in the Shade, Frankie and Johnnie and Marie Christine. On screen she has appeared in Ricki and the Flash, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and the upcoming Respect, as well as the television adaptations of A Raisin in the Sun, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, Wit and Annie. She is known to television audiences for Private Practice ” and her current starring role on The Good Fight. Tickets are $75 and $125.

Saturday, September 18 will be Gay Day at Disneyland, which includes a full day of activities in the park and culminates with KINGDOM, the weekend’s signature party. The night will start with RuPaul’s Drag Race darling Jackie Cox in her show, JackieVision at 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Then at 10:00 PM, Jackie will cede the floor to DJ Kimberly S. and the dancing will begin! Tickets to both parts are available separately or bundled together. KINGDOM will be held at House of Blues, Anaheim.

Sunday, September 19 will be Gay Day at Disney’s California Adventure and the Gay Days Anaheim pool party, PLUNGE! from noon until 4:00 p.m. at the Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel. DJ Zach Moos will be spinning while Mermaids splash around in the pool.  Tickets are $25.

As the sun sets, we’ll close the weekends with a pair of shows from more RuPaul’s Drag Race royalty; At 6:00, Nina West will dazzle with her show, The Wonderful World of Nina, and then at 8:00, fresh from All Stars 6, Jan Sport will present Jan’s Jukebox!

Both days in the parks will feature gatherings only available over Gay Days weekend, including a scavenger hunt, a group photo, a lesbian ice cream social, group meet ups at varying attractions, and many more events targeted to families, teens, bears, couples and Mouseketeers of every ilk. Other highlights of the weekend include the Gay Days Welcome Center (located inside the Trillium Room of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel), screenings of ABC pilots, and mixers.
