Palm Springs is preparing for a dazzling citywide celebration as Palm Springs Pride unveils Marilyn 100, a four‑day centennial tribute honoring the 100th birthday of Marilyn Monroe. From May 29 through June 1, 2026, the city will transform into a glamorous homage to Hollywood’s most iconic star, culminating in an official Guinness World Record™ attempt to gather the largest number of people dressed as Marilyn Monroe.
The signature event takes place Saturday, May 30, when organizers aim to surpass the current record of 254 participants by assembling 500 “Marilyns” in downtown Palm Springs. Registered participants will raise a synchronized martini or “mocktini” toast beneath the desert sun, creating a shimmering sea of white halter dresses and platinum curls. Each participant receives a Marilyn Icon Kit, which includes the signature pleated dress, the classic blonde wig, and a ticket to the official record‑setting celebration. Registration is $75 and ensures uniformity for the Guinness attempt.
More than a playful tribute, Marilyn 100 also supports a meaningful cause. Event proceeds benefit Palm Springs Pride, continuing its four decades of LGBTQ+ advocacy. “Marilyn was a trailblazing ally who championed authenticity long before it was fashionable,” said Jasmine Sulivan Waits of Palm Springs Pride. “By stepping into her shoes, our participants are supporting the values of visibility and inclusion that define Palm Springs.”
The festival weekend offers a full slate of cultural programming, with P.S. Resorts serving as Platinum sponsor. Visitors can explore the Marilyn Glam pop‑up dressing room and boutique near the Forever Marilyn sculpture in downtown Palm Springs from May 28–30, which also serves as the hub for registration and costume kit pickup. Beyond the record attempt, the city will host themed dining, arts programming, fashion experiences, and opportunities to enjoy both the serene desert landscape and Palm Springs’ vibrant nightlife.
Local businesses are invited to join the celebration. Restaurants, galleries, hotels, and venues can submit Monroe‑themed events to be featured in the Marilyn 100 Online Schedule. The festival encourages community participation to create a truly citywide takeover. Click here to register events.
