Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) closed out the year with another milestone achievement, reporting more than 3.3 million passengers in 2025 and solidifying its position as one of the fastestโgrowing airports in the region. The airportโs 2.4% increase over the previous year reflects sustained demand, expanded air service, and the Coachella Valleyโs continued appeal as a yearโround destination.
Five allโtime monthly passenger records were set throughout the year, including March โ now the busiest month in PSPโs history โ when nearly half a million travelers moved through the terminal. Nine months posted yearโoverโyear growth, demonstrating that PSPโs momentum extends well beyond traditional peak travel seasons.
Airport leaders say the numbers highlight both the convenience of flying from Palm Springs and the airportโs role as a major economic driver. โWeโre proud to see more travelers choosing to fly from Palm Springs,โ said Harry Barrett, Jr., Executive Director of Aviation. โEvery trip that starts here supports local jobs, helps sustain the regional economy, and creates momentum for expanding nonstop air service that benefits the entire Coachella Valley.โ
Even with record passenger volumes, PSP handled roughly 3,800 fewer commercial flights than preโpandemic levels โ a 6% decrease. Airlines have shifted toward larger, more efficient mainline aircraft, replacing smaller regional jets. These aircraft carry more passengers per flight while reducing noise, fuel consumption, and overall flight activity, allowing PSP to grow sustainably.
The airport also advanced its longโterm modernization program, Progress PSP, with a series of improvements designed to enhance comfort, efficiency, and the signature openโair experience travelers love. Upgrades completed in 2025 include new shops and restaurants, expanded seating and charging areas, shade structures, upgraded flight information displays, water bottle filling stations, a revamped WiโFi system, new passenger elevators, refreshed midcenturyโinspired curbside seating, and a remodeled conference space.
More enhancements are already in progress. PSP is expanding its zeroโemission vehicle fleet, installing 80 new electric vehicle charging stations in the main terminal lot, and rolling out a smart parking and access system to streamline the arrival experience. These investments support continued growth while ensuring PSP remains one of the most welcoming and efficient airports in the country.
