To help those affected by the Los Angeles fires, the American Red Cross requests you make a financial donation and/or become a volunteer.

To Make a Financial Donation:

  • Make a financial gift by going https://www.redcross.org/donate/mm/california-wildfires-2025.html/, contacting me or by mailing a check with “California Wildfires 2025” in the memo line to American Red Cross, 72559 CA Highway 111 Palm Desert, CA 92260.
  • We cannot accept homemade food due to public health regulations (it must be made in a certified kitchen). We cannot accept clothing or donated items. Please bring these to other wonderful organizations that regularly accept these donations and have a process in place to accept, gather, transport and distribute donated items.
  • Create or activate an online giving site to collect donations from customers or employees. These free pages are turnkey and track funds raised. Please contact me to get started. 
  • If you have a business, rally customers through a custom fundraising promotion. You could invite them to add a donation to their purchases (perhaps even matching their gifts), or you might donate a percentage of product sales to the Red Cross. We’re happy to explore fundraising models with you and provide template marketing materials. Note that these opportunities require an agreement between our organizations.   • Engage your followers through your social media channels. Share relevant posts from our national accounts (Facebook or Twitter). We can provide you with already-produced elements to post.
  • We must continue to care for one another, and blood donations remain essential to ensure the health of those in our community. Many are now able to donate blood through a new inclusive screening process that expands blood donor eligibility and eliminates questions based on sexual orientation through updated FDA guidelines issued in May 2023. Our nearest blood center is in Riverside. However, a blood drive in Palm Springs may be set up if we have sufficient requests
  • If you have a business, please encourage your employees to schedule an appointment to donate blood and consider hosting a blood drive. Your employees can visit redcrossblood.org to make a donation appointment. Our nearest blood center is in Riverside.  Contact me to discuss hosting a blood drive at your location.  

Become a Red Cross Volunteer

  • As a Disaster Action Team volunteer, you’ll provide emotional support, Red Cross financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery. After your initial training, your shifts will include responding to emergencies within 2 hours, night or day, rain or shine, either on the scene or coordinating remotely to provide immediate compassion and care. To apply, please visit www.redcross.org/volunteer.
