The LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert Presents Out on the Walk, An Exhibition Celebrating the LGBT Individuals on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars.

Since 1992, more than 450 stars honoring notable entertainers, humanitarians, civic leaders, architects, artists, authors, athletes, and veterans have been inducted on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars throughout downtown and uptown.

Each of these honorees, in their own way, was deserving of their recognition, and although many of their accomplishments were known during their lifetimes, or when their stars were installed, many of these individuals are no longer household names. In addition, some of the honorees were known to live openly as LGBT individuals, while others due to time and personal preference did not. By identifying and celebrating these LGBT celebrities, business people, humanitarians, philanthropists, authors, artists, and civic leaders, we hope to share the story of how each one helped to make the greater Palm Springs area the welcoming place for the LGBTQ community it is today.

In addition to the exhibit, visitors using the Walk of the Stars website and app will find updated information about the honorees.

David Gray and Julie Warren, Co-Founders & Co-Directors of the LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert, stated, "We were happy to collaborate with the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars and the City of Palm Springs, to identify and recognize the deserving individuals who will be recognized with this new designation. We are excited to be sharing their stories and calling attention to these deserving LGBT contributors to our community.” Sponsors for the exhibit, as of press time, include the City of Palm Springs, David Hood & George Sellers, The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert, KGAY/Gay Desert Guide, Diane McKenzie, CV Independent, Thomas Brown & Bill Coughlin, and Ken Seeley Communities.
