Lesbians of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley and beyond presents B.A.M. Salon (Book and Movie Salon) for women hosted by Flynn Sylvest and Irma O’Dell.

(BAM Salon) looks to develop and deepen LGBTQ+ community and connection through stimulating and informative conversations about books and movies that highlight women authors and women's stories and experiences.

"Salon" references a centuries rich history of social gatherings from around the world most often run by women. Creative minds come together for the art of conversation, learning and social pleasure. Gertrude Stein and Zora Neale Hurston ran noteworthy salons in the U.S. in the 1920's which were famous for bringing together innovative thinkers and artists. We hope you join us for a taste of vintage mutual education, enrichment and social fun!

The B.A.M. Salons will take place virtually on the third Tuesdays of the month from 7:00-8:30pm.

We plan to alternate monthly between books and movies.

The Palm Springs International Film Festival is one of the largest film festivals in North America, welcoming over 136,000 attendees each year for its lineup of new and celebrated international features and documentaries. The Festival is also known for its annual Film Awards, honoring the best achievements of the filmic year by a celebrated list of talents. Produced by the Palm Springs International Film Society, the Festival offers 12 days of events and film screenings, featuring over 200 films from 60+ countries. We welcome you to join us at our venues in Palm Springs and Cathedral City. See you at the movies!

• On Thursday, January 4, the annual Film Awards will kick off the festival at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Learn more

• The screening portion of the festival will run Friday, January 5 through Monday, January 14. On January 5, the festival will run screenings all day with the official Opening Night screening & reception taking place that evening. Films screenings and schedule will be announced and viewable on our website in December 2023.

• The festival will close on Sunday, January 14, with Best of the Fest screenings taking place Monday, January 15.
