The Untold Tales of Armistead Maupin
To Open Cinema Diverse

GayDesertGuide.LGBT is proud to sponsor Cinema Diverse again this year. Armistead Maupin is a part of the program with an opening night VIP reception as a part of the VIP Pass.  There's also a new "Best of the Fest" at the Mary Pickford the following weekend.

THE UNTOLD TALES OF ARMISTEAD MAUPIN examines the life and work of one of the world's most beloved storytellers, following his evolution from a conservative son of the Old South into a gay rights pioneer whose novels have inspired millions to claim their own truth. Jennifer Kroot's documentary about the creator of TALES OF THE CITY moves nimbly between playful and poignant and laugh-out-loud funny. With help from his friends (including Neil Gaiman, Laura Linney, Olympia Dukakis, Sir Ian McKellen and Amy Tan) Maupin offers a disarmingly frank look at the journey that took him from the jungles of Vietnam to the bathhouses of 70's San Francisco to the front line of the American culture war.

Celebrate with Deca-Dance!  Happy 10th Anniversary to the Palm Springs Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence

You're invited to  Deca-Dance, the Palm Springs Sisters 10th Anniversary Party!   Come help then celebrate 10 years of helping raise funds for numerous nonprofits here in the Coachella Valley!  There will be food, fun, dancing, a silent action, and the usual crazy antics and decadence that the Sisters are known for!

Also, if you haven't met the Palm Springs Sisters, this would be a great time to come see what they are all about, and chat!

We learn at their official Facebook Page, 'The decision to become a Sister is a fantastic journey and the efforts made come back again and again as a reward for the soul. By manifesting as a Sister or Guard, we receive as much as or even more than we give, and discover parts of ourselves that we did not know existed or, perhaps, never recognized. The calling to be a Sister of Perpetual Indulgence allows one to know themselves better and find an outlet to express behavior and emotions that were shut down for fear of being differant or criticized."

Sponsors of Deca-Dance  include Hunters, Townie Bagel, CV Independent, and Atomic Budz.  Great silent auction items include gift cards and certificates and hotel stays!  Come out, have fun, and deca-Deca-DECA-DANCE!!!  More Info
