Lost 80's LIVE!

Are you now totally in an 80's music mood?  The Show at Agua Caliente Spa Resort Casino is coming to the rescue August 19th with Lost 80's Live!

Step on the retro 80s train and take a trip back in time with the original artists who made this slice of musical history so memorable. For a decade, Tony Hadley was the voice and image of Spandau Ballet, guiding them to global success crooning a string of smash hits like “To Cut a Long Story Short, “True,” “Gold,” and “Through the Barricades.”

Twice Grammy nominated and 2.7 million albums sold, The Cutting Crew formed in England in 1985, just one year before “(I Just) Died in Your Arms” made them stars at home and across the Atlantic.

Wang Chung’s story begins in the late 1970s, when the creative core of Jack Hues and Nick Feldman first met in London, later finding success at home and abroad with hits like “Don’t Let Go” and “Dance Hall Days.”

The 80s have taken on an almost mythical place in pop culture, and at the vanguard remains Naked Eyes with hits like “Always Something There To Remind Me,” “Promises, Promises” and “When The Lights Go Out.”

When you think of the 80s it’s hard not to think of the smash dance club hits from The Flirts like “Danger,” “Jukebox” (Don’t Put Another Dime In),” from the iconic film, Valley Girl, and “(Bop Bop) on the Beach” from Karate Kid. Pretty Poison ruled the charts with their #1 platinum hit “Catch Me I’m Falling” on Virgin Records in 1987.

With a return to the stage, Jade Starling and long-time Pretty Poison partner and co-writer Whey Cooler have been having their best years yet. Wow!  Get more info!

The Transformation of Arenas Road

Gone is the Circle K and adjacent Cafe Palette, replaced by Rough Trade and  the fabulous new BlackBook. And soon, the space next to Streetbar will open as the Palm Springs location of the extremely popular Phoenix-area piano bar, Stacy's @ Melrose.

About the original sister club in Arizona, the website explains, "Unlike any club in Phoenix, Stacy's is the only place where you'll be greeted at the door with a smile and a warm greeting. A casual atmosphere, with an ambiance and charm of an old-world cathedral with the walls featuring local community artists' works of art, Stacy's is staffed with the friendliest employees to provide cheerful customer service and top-notch cocktails and many craft beers.
You and your friends are assured a fantastic time each and every night you visit. Stacy invites you and your friends to come laugh, dance and have a great time!
Don't be surprised to find Stacy checking on you and your guests to make sure you're having the best time you can have. For those who prefer the outdoors, there is a spacious patio fully furnished with a full-service bar (weekends and special events only), for imbibing in the sunshine or under the stars.

Whoo, Hooo!  We can't wait to welcome Stacy's to Arenas Road!

Acqua California Bistro at the River Set to Open Next Week

After months of anticipation and building excitement, Barbara and Jerry Keller (owners of Lulu California Bistro) will open Acqua California Bistro at The River next week. The River shopping, food and entertainment venue, is getting a bit of a makeover as well, including covered parking, with the new Acqua California Bistro a cornerstone of its new look. The Keller's former restaurant, Acqua Pazza, was an important destination restaurant during the first 15 years or so in The River’s history,”

The River’s owners CL Asset Management said in a press release. “I am confident that the Kellers will bring the same energy and excitement back to this location with their new Acqua California Bistro.”  Visit GayDesertGuide.com next week for more breaking news about the new venue!

Exploring New Frontiers!

The City of Palm Springs is pleased to announce Frontier Airlines will soon begin new seasonal nonstop service from Denver, Colorado to and from Palm Springs International Airport, beginning Nov. 10, 2017. The new flights will operate on an Airbus A320 and will run Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, with one-way fares beginning as low as $59. Frontier Airlines previously served Palm Springs for three consecutive years beginning in late 2011 through January 2015.

“With today’s return announcement, it’s a sign Frontier once again recognizes the value of the Palm Springs resort destination to their Denver market,” said City Manager David H. Ready. “This is excellent news for Palm Springs tourism and local residents interested in flying to and from Colorado, giving them an opportunity to connect to a large network of flights through the Denver hub. We are excited to welcome back Frontier Airlines to Palm Springs.”

Over the past several years Palm Springs International Airport has experienced great success with a host of popular airlines beginning new seasonal flights for visitors coming to Palm Springs from colder climates, according to Mary Jo Ginther, Director of the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism. “With our year-round sunshine and relaxed desert lifestyle, Palm Springs is like no place else when it comes to visitors looking to escape the cold and rejuvenate,” Ginther said. For more information about flights, visit www.flyfrontier.com.

Happy Hour Finder

While Streetbar will be getting a new neighbor, Stacy’s, they'll continue to pour strong drinks for Happy Hour, or any hour for that matter. Streetbar at 224 E. Arenas, is known for drinks for the big boys such as Makers Mark bourbon, Grey Goose Vodka and Jack Daniel's whiskey. Stop in for Happy Hour, which runs from 10 AM to 8 PM daily.

Happy Hour at Trio is an extension of its modern twist on traditional American cuisine. We say that because the restaurant at 707 N. Palm Canyon Drive offers three-course meals at a set and very reasonable price from 11 AM to 7 PM.

Enjoy Trio during Happy Hour where well drinks are $3, wines are $3, $5 for calls, $8 premiums and $ 5 bar bites in the bar and on the patio.

C'mon, C'mon.  Get Happy!
