Memorial Day Weekend Marks Official Start To Summer

Memorial Day Weekend marks for many, the official start of summer, and GayDesertGuide.com is ready with our new Map & Guide for both locals and visitors, chocked full of information including the summer/fall calendar of “save the dates” all the way to Greater Palm Springs Pride in November.

Writes GayDesertGuide.com publisher Brad Fuhr, “June is well known as Pride month in most parts of the world – an homage to the Stonewall riots in late June of 1969.   As I write this, I’m at LGBT Week in New York City where it all happened.  The conference is an “open source” mosaic of events and activities. People from all over the world are attending and organizers include our friends at LGBT Brandvoice by Pink Banana Media and CMI Community Marketing & Insights.  They are the company who asked you to fill out a survey on LGBTQ consumer habits.  Those results help “make the case” for brands, organizations and government agencies to pay attention to our community and steer resources our way.”

Who Will Be Crowned Queen???

Ethylina Canne returns to host the fourth Annual Queen of the Desert So-Cal Lip Sync competition Wednesday, May 31st at the Renaissance Palm Springs.

The fun begins with cocktails at 6:00 PM and show time at 7:00 PM. Last year was a sold-out crowd of 700, so make sure you get your tickets soon by visiting www.desertaidsproject.org. Participating Queens include Arial Trampway, Vanity Halston, PS Lola, Bellonce Aguilera, Mayhem MIller, and Crystal Champagne + a special performance by Pinkie Meringue Shimmer.

You can start voting for your Queen of the Desert Fan Favorite 2017 now.  Of course, the crown will ultimately be decided by a celebrity judging panel so don’t miss this fun-filled night benefiting Desert AIDS Project.

Dottie and Maude of Dames Soleil return this year as celebrity judges and will be joined by Ruta Lee, Joey English, Brad Fuhr and Shann Carr. We trust that this group will have plenty of color commentary to add when Miss Canne checks in with them throughout the show.

Last Weekend for “Adult Material and Nudity” at The Desert Rose Playhouse

Reviewer Stephen Radosh writes, “CLARK GABLE SLEPT HERE is a fast-paced, often hilarious and oh so dark but razor sharp satire about Hollywood by Michael McKeever.  Thanks to his skillful handling of the outrageous premise and characters, the play which is only a couple of years old, will certainly be around for a long time to come.”  Read More

The Desert Rose Playhouse, the Valley’s LGBTQA+ Stage Company, presents the West Coast premiere of Michael McKeever’s dark comedy, CLARK GABLE SLEPT HERE, Friday, May 5, 2017, for a four-week run.  Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2 PM, through May 28, 2017.
