If It's Hot, It's Shortfest! (With HOT Film, BTW)
You know it's summer in Palm Springs when hundreds of makers of short films converge for The Palm Springs International ShortFest — now in its 23rd year — the largest short film event in North America.
A highly competitive festival, ShortFest receives 4,200± submissions from over 100 countries around the globe. Approximately 325 shorts are selected and screened in 90-minute themed programs, with many of the remaining titles available for viewing our Film Market. An Oscar® and BAFTA®-qualifying festival, ShortFest has presented more than 100 shorts that have gone on to receive Oscar® nominations and/or awards.
Hottest among the entries are usually the Thursday night Gay!La screenings followed by a separately-ticketed VIP party at Toucans Tiki Lounge. This Gay!La HIS presentation explores the many definitions, struggles and pleasures of what it means to be a gay man. This Gay!La HERS offers a collection of shorts for the lesbian orientation features striking performances and moments that will take you back (or make you wish you were there). Get the Details!
