“February was first celebrated as Black History Month in 1976—and in Palm Springs, this year’s Black History Month culminated in the 36th Annual Parade and Town Fair.

Put on by the Palm Springs Black History Committee and the City of Palm Springs’ James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, the festivities were delayed by one day—from Saturday, Feb. 25, to Sunday, Feb. 26—due to rainy weather.

The delay, however, didn’t stop the high-energy parade from attracting participants and spectators from all over California and beyond.
