One of my favorite accidental philosophers is the Cheshire Cat from Lewis Carroll's famous Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. He appears and drops hints of wisdom as Alice becomes more and more harried by her adventures in Wonderland. At one point, she asks the feline for directions, but doesn't care where, as long as she goes somewhere. “You're sure to do that,” he intones, “if only you walk long enough.”
And so it goes with us humans when we decide to improve ourselves. On the way to improvement we fall into the rabbit hole of distractions. We forget where we're going, but know we're going “somewhere.” We're sure to do that if only we walk long enough…
