Palm Springs, CA (February 11, 2021) – Bucking the current downward trend in the restaurant and hospitality industries due to the pandemic, two seasoned Palm Springs restaurateurs are forging their sizable talents to open a new restaurant, 1501 Uptown Gastropub, in a vacant restaurant space in Uptown Palm Springs.
Willie Rhine of Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge and Chad Gardner of 533 Viet Fusion and Roly China Fusion bring their combined successful track records to this new culinary venture. This formidable team will focus on each of their strengths – Rhine for front of the house (guest relations) and Gardner, back of the house (kitchen).
Housed in the former Draughtsman space just south of the Arrive hotel, 1501 Uptown Gastropub brings a fresh and enticing twist to the standard “comfort pub food” inspired by Rhine’s native Scotland and the UK.
In a joint statement by Rhine and Gardner, they noted: “Although we delayed our opening due to the pandemic, we are excited to bring Palm Springs residents and visitors a new dining venue they can look forward to during these days of Covid-19 fatigue. Our goal is to offer the community a welcoming and casual environment for our guests to leave the stress of these difficult times behind, have a relaxing time away from home, enjoy a great meal, and imbibe a beer, glass of wine or a cocktail from our extensive bar menu.”
Chef Chad Gardner has created a menu at 1501 Uptown Gastropub, as the name implies, he calls elevated pub cuisine based on traditional “public house” fare.
The menu features shareable Small Plates – cheese and charcuterie, house made sourdough pretzels, beer cheese dip made with amber ale, and sweet and spicy BBQ wings. Soups and Salads – filet mignon black bean chili, Thai style spicy sauteed shrimp salad, and blue crab cobb salad. Sandwiches – pressed Kobe short rib and cheddar, blue crab and lobster melt with beer cheese, pressed pastrami Reuben, and Beyond Burger.
