After closing its doors on March 17, 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Joslyn Center is thrilled to announce that it will reopen this June. To celebrate, the center will host Back to Joslyn – a reopening event – on Wednesday, June 2 from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon on The Joslyn Center campus, 73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert.
Presented by Desert Oasis Healthcare and sponsored by Alzheimer’s Association, Bilhartz Desert Insurance Agency, Desert Care Network, Eisenhower Health, Family Hospice Care, and Kaiser Permanente, Back to Joslyn will welcome guests into the center to sign up for or renew memberships, pick up a schedule of classes and activities, and learn more about the safety protocols the center will be following as it eases into reopening. The event will also feature a mini health expo, farmers’ market, free health screenings from the Desert Oasis Mobile Health Unit, and vaccine clinic courtesy of Eisenhower Health. Temperature checks, masks, social distancing, and COVID-19 safety procedures will be enforced. Reservations, available for half-hour time slots, are required for the event. To schedule your reservation, call 760-340-3220 x102.
The center will resume limited operations starting Monday, June 7 and will be open weekdays from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Membership is required for all classes and programs. Class size will be limited, and members must pre-register for each activity they wish to attend. As with Back to Joslyn, all COVID-19 safety measures – including daily temperature checks and sign ins, masks, and social distancing – will be followed. Virtual programs will continue online for those not yet comfortable returning to the center.
“We are thrilled to be reopening but will remain vigilant about following and enforcing COVID-19 safety measures,” said Jack Newby, executive director of center. “To that end, we have increased our cleaning capabilities and added extra time between classes to disinfect rooms. Our top priority has always been the health and safety of our members.”
