Popular airline JetBlue announced today it will launch a new seasonal nonstop route from PSP to Florida’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, beginning Dec. 18, 2020.
The new service will offer two flights weekly on Thursdays and Sundays through March 2021. The new route to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood is in addition to JetBlue’s other seasonal flights from PSP to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York anticipated to begin Nov. 6, along with Boston Logan International Airport starting Dec. 19.
The airline chose to add the new PSP route because Palm Springs was identified as a unique destination in demand for increased leisure travel, according to a news release.
Most new JetBlue routes will operate using its Airbus A320 aircraft offering the airline’s award-winning service featuring legroom in coach, free Fly-Fi, and free, live DirectTV and SiriusXM radio programming.
“The City of Palm Springs is delighted that JetBlue will add another terrific nonstop route from PSP that our residents and visitors can enjoy,” said City Manager David H. Ready. “This is terrific news for Palm Springs and the entire Coachella Valley region and we thank JetBlue for their continued investment in Palm Springs International Airport.”
