Modernism Week Continues
Modernism Week will do its thing through Sunday Feb 25, with its double-decker architectural bus tours, lectures, home tours, exhibitions, and sales spread throughout the desert. There are a number of events available for free or inexpensive day-of tickets should they be of interest.

Architectural Design Art Film Festival
The Palm Springs Cultural Center is pleased to present the Architecture, Design, Art Film Festival from Feb 23-25 as part of Modernism Week. Featuring short film documentaries, full length documentaries, and a full length fictional feature.
LGBT Clear Defense Course: Street Defense for Extreme Situations
Gay Desert Guide is partnering with Desert Rocks Indoor Climbing Gym to present this LGBT self-defense course, Saturday Feb 24 from 10:30am-2pm. The Clear Defense method can be used by almost anyone. It's been taught to teens and to "little old ladies with heart conditions.' Learn how to trigger the mind and body to fight like a wild animal in an instant.
The course is taught by Harry Legg (That is his name!), owner of New Jersey Tai Chi and NJ/NYC Regional Instructor for Master Richard Clear. Master Clear developed this method over 25 years through real street attack experiences. Training aspects taught in this course include how to keep from panicking so you never freeze up under pressure; how to win a confrontation morally and in a way that can be defended legally; and my favorite, how to use an ink pen for self defense, because whether mightier or not, it generally is more accessible than the sword
Kylie Minogue to Headline White Party 2018 Sunday T-Dance
Jeffrey Sanker Presents has announced international superstar and "Goddess of Pop" Kylie Minogue as the headliner for White Party 2018's Circus T-Dance to be held on Sunday April 29. Tickets for this and all other White Party events are on sale now, but prices go up on March 5, so get a move on!
Grooves at the Westin: Peter White joined by Gregg Karukas
Peter White is one of the most versatile and prolific acoustic guitarists on the contemporary jazz landscape. Armed with an unparalleled combination of lyricism and energy, and joined by keyboardist Gregg Karukas, Peter White combines elements of jazz, pop and classical guitar for an encore performance at Grooves at The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa. Stars Among Us Gala 2018: Michael Jackson Live in London!
The evening kicks off at 5:30pm Feb 24 at the Palm Springs Air Museum, where guests will enjoy themed cocktails and a magnificent silent auction set in the streets of London. Then it’s off to a re-creation of the world-famous Palladium, where they will experience the immortal music of Michael Jackson. Michael will be depicted by the world-famous MJ LIVE! group from Las Vegas in a show that delivers the energy, excitement, spectacle, and pure joy of this legendary superstar and his music. Taylor Dayne, best known for her iconic hit “Tell it to My Heart” (and a classic Tig Notaro joke), and who performed with Jackson early in her career, will join in to help pay tribute.
The event honors Eisenhower Medical Center’s Aubrey Serfling & Martin Massiello with the Galaxy Award and Patti & Jack Grundhofer with the Shining Star Award. Gloria Loring Hosts An Evening with Broadway's Cabaret All Stars
Gloria Loring (Days of Our Lives, "Friends and Lovers") hosts Front Row Center: A Benefit for Musical Theatre University at the Purple Room Supper Club on Sat Feb 24. An evening of cabaret starring Broadway stars Teri Ralston (Company OBC, A Little Night Music OBC), Davis Gaines (The Phantom of the Opera), Alix Korey (Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof), Sal Mistretta (Evita, Sunset Boulevard) and more. Front Row Center benefits the Lucie Arnaz Awards for High School Musical Theatre and scholarships for talented young people from the Desert Cities. Dinner at 6pm, show at 8pm.
