The flames are now getting closer to our hamlet, as the #SnowFire got its start on Thursday and now threatened rural areas of the northern Coachella Valley. Our air quality will suffer from this and other fires throughout the West for some time.
I think we in Palm Springs dodged a bullet with the announcement of the downtown arena moving to land near the Classic Club, north of I-10 in Palm Desert. Now we’ll see if that land will house a replacement hotel or other tribal project to continue their large footprint. The new spa and cultural museum are just about complete.
We at GayDesertGuide are proud to be the presenting sponsors of “Light Up the Night” as a homegrown event for this year’s abbreviated #PalmSpringsPride. Ron DeHarte and I are working on a photo contest on Facebook and Instagram to highlight the best outdoor light displays. We’ll announce details shortly.
