Palm Springs Speaks presents Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman
This Friday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m., Palm Springs Speaks kicks off their season with Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, presenting “The Greatest Love Story Ever Told: An Oral History.” Mullally and Offerman have been a couple for nearly twenty years and married for fifteen, which in the world of Hollywood is closer to 102 years. As actors and humorists in today’s frenzied media cycle, where celebrity hookups and breakups often make headlines alongside changes in world policy, they are self-acknowledged outliers. Dance Factory at Wang's
Wang's in the Desert plays host to a new dance night this Friday, October 5 starting at 9:00 p.m. “Dance Factory” features Music by DJ Producer Peter Barona, hosted by the Dancing Queen Jill Langham and Bearcules producer Luis Gavela. Theatre: The Sugar Witch and Into the Woods
Just in time for Halloween month–er, October–we have two “witchy” offerings opening this weekend from local theatre companies!
The Desert Rose Playhouse presents The Sugar Witch, by Nathan Sanders, starting Friday, October 5 and closing Sunday, October 28. This dark, Southern Gothic play features an old Florida family living in grave danger as the last in a long line of folk-tale witches attempts to end the curse placed on their heads by the dying words of her very own grandmother. Streetbar Spirit Catering has now teamed up with The Desert Rose Playhouse and will be serving adult beverages at their venue during the season.
Desert Theatreworks presents Into the Woods, with music by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, opening Friday, October 5 and closing Sunday, October 21 at the Indio Performing Arts Center. This modern twist on the Brothers Grimm brings together Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of beanstalk fame), a Baker, his Wife and a dancing cow. On Saturday, October 13, at 5:30 p.m., EQCA’s Equality Awards will honor the inspirational leaders and outstanding allied organizations whose selfless work helps create a more fair and just society. These are special times to celebrate community achievements while renewing our commitment to the fight for equality. Among California’s premier gala events, attendants regularly include leaders of the LGBT equality movement, and leaders from the business, nonprofit, civic and political landscapes. Casual Concours, The Desert's Fabulous Midcentury Car Show
Modernism Week Fall Preview presents Casual Concours, The Desert’s Most Fabulous Midcentury Car Show on Saturday, October 20 from 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m at the Desert Princess Country Club. Casual Concours X is the tenth annual gathering of significant post-war automobiles, with over 100 museum-quality cars on display.
