Brad Fuhr Caricature

Legacy is a word that is bandied about and refers to how one will be remembered after they are gone or the money left in a will.
Or it might mean the legacy of a movement like our LGBTQ+ collective voices and history. I was honored to moderate a panel talking about this very topic earlier in the week. It dovetailed on the movie Bros, where a fictional LGBTQ+ History Museum is being created.  The movie skewers the foibles and frailties that accompany the various factions who are trying to get their piece of history acknowledged.

Here in Palm Springs, a group of us are working to create a long-term documentation of our history called the LGBTQ+ History and Archives of the Desert. Our current exhibition will be up at the Welwood Murray Library during pride weekend. I hope you’ll stop by.

And I also think about legacy in terms of the people who will be honored this weekend at CenterStage, the LGBTQ Community Center’s annual gala. Jeremy Hobbs leads the Western Wind Foundation and is recipient of the Legacy Award.  The dollars he funnels to our community have impacted many lives.

Enjoy this great weekend in #GreaterPalmSprings

Oh and don’t forget to vote for John Taylor, DJ Galaxy and KGAY in the Best of Coachella Valley from the CV Independent. It IS your favorite radio station, right???
