Palm Springs Pride 2018

The weather was beautiful and so was the turnout at Greater Palm Springs Pride 2018 held this past weekend! We wanted to share just a few photo highlights with you as we bask in the post-Pride glow. A big thank-you to everyone who attended our Dip Into Pride Pool Party Kickoff at Hotel Zoso on Friday Nov 2. We raised $5,000 to benefit Greater Palm Springs Pride!

The Gay Desert Guide booth at the Pride Festival was busy all weekend with folks picking up our latest Map & Calendar, signing up to receive our Oasis Insiders weekly newsletter, and entering to win tickets to see Lea DeLaria performing at the McCallum on November 8!

At the Pride Parade on Sunday, we drove the Gay Desert Guide Torre Nissan Leaf and were joined by YouTube celebrities Zach & Evan, soon to be married in Palm Springs. Check out Zach & Evan at thanks to Steven and Ken for letting us borrow their fabulous T-bird!

Weekend Theatre

Dezart Performs presents Church and State, opening Friday November 9 and running through Sunday, November 18. Three days before his bid for reelection, a Republican U.S. senator makes an off-the-cuff comment to a blogger that gets leaked on Twitter, calling into question the senator's stance on guns and God. As his devoutly Christian wife and liberal Jewish campaign manager try to contain the damage, this look at how religion influences politics and how politics has become a religion is simultaneously funny, heartbreaking, and uplifting. Get tickets

Coyote Stageworks presents The Understudy, running through Sunday, November 11. A smash hit Off-Broadway, The Understudy is the hilarious comedy from Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck. When a smug Hollywood action star lands a prestigious role in Franz Kafka’s newly discovered play on Broadway, things couldn’t be better…until he meets his understudy. Can a love-sick, charmingly ditzy stage manager prevent a battle royale from developing between the two rival actors? Will the show go on? Get tickets

Palm Canyon Theatre presents the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Avenue Q, running through Sunday, November 18. This controversial, modern musical centers around a group of foul mouthed puppets living in an apartment complex together. With songs like, “It Sucks to Be Me”, “The Internet is for Porn”, and “What Do You Do With A B.A. in English” you’re sure to be rolling in the seats. (Adult content-not recommended for children). Get tickets

Desert Theatreworks presents Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Nile, running through Sunday, November 18. In this whodunit, adapted for the stage by Christie herself, we find ourselves aboard a luxury steamer as it travels up the Nile River–a honeymoon cruise, only problem is the bride is dead. Get tickets

CVRep presents How I Learned to Drive, running through Sunday, November 18 at CVRep at The Atrium in Rancho Mirage. This funny, surprising and devastating tale of survival as seen through the lens of a troubling relationship between a young girl and an older man is a multi-award winning play including the 1998 Pulitzer Prize. Check out our review by Stephen Radosh, and Get tickets
