Cathedral City LGBT Days

Holding the distinction of California’s first Pride celebration of the year, the 6th Annual Cathedral City LGBT Days runs March 25–27 in downtown Cathedral City. There is much to do on each of the three days of the festival: Friday is the Opening Ceremony and Party in Town Square, hosted by John Taylor of KGAY 106.5! The kickoff includes a Rainbow Lighting of City Hall, and opening of the exhibit: Sharing Our Desert’s LGBTQ+ History, plus a Del Shores comedy show at CVRep. Then, it’s concert time on Saturday when Lance Bass hosts the Pop 2000 tour featuring OTOWN, Ryan Cabrera, and LFO, co-hosted by Mayhem Miller with music also from DJ Alex D.

On Sunday, March 27 at 10 am, it’s the festival’s signature event: the Parade of Beds and Bed Race, which will feature color commentary provided by KGAY 106.5 Morning Show host John Taylor, alongside Bella da Ball! The race will be followed by Brunch in the Park. More info

Throughout the weekend, The Roost Lounge in Cathedral City presents their Balcony Party, a weekend of fun with fresh entertainment nightly: On Friday, March 25 at 5 pm, kick off the weekend with headliner Debby Holiday, plus Bill Ramirez & DJ Galaxy. On Saturday, March 26 performers include Shann Carr, Sean Taylor Jackson, DJ Tema Dancer, DJ Galaxy, Bill Lohnes, Bill Ramirez, and Coachella Valley Drag Kings. Transgender Visibility Day

The LGBTQ Center Coachella Valley presents Transgender Visibility Day on Friday, March 25 from 4–8 pm. This is the first Transgender Visibility Day at the new offices in Coachella. It is extremely important to celebrate and uplift all Trans people, particularly at this moment in time, and The Center has partnered with Paulina Angel of Trans Community Project to bring this event to life. It will be an afternoon of fun, celebration, and art with refreshments and speakers in the evening. More info

Trans Pride Fair

Coachella Valley’s Transgender Health & Wellness Center presents the 2022 Trans Pride Fair on Sunday, March 27 from 10 am–5 pm at Frances Stevens Park in Palm Springs. There’ll be snacks, music, and fun. Make new friends and learn about vital resources. All allies are welcome. More info

The Mary Pickford Theatre presents Your Red Carpet Party on Oscar Sunday, March 27 from 4–8 pm. Attendees will begin the night with a walk on the red carpet, with Emcee Patrick Evans of KESQ-TV, and strike a pose at the Stand & Repeat. Desert Winds Freedom Band – “Infinite Hope”

The Desert Winds Freedom Band is marking their 20th Anniversary with a celebratory concert, “Infinite Hope,” on Saturday, March 26 at 7 pm, and Sunday, March 27 at 2 pm at Temple Isaiah Palm Springs. Palm Desert Food & Wine

Palm Desert Food & Wine is a 3-day experience that will feature a diverse selection of mouth-watering eats, premium wines, hands-on cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, and much more, from Friday, March 25 through Sunday, March 27 at The Gardens on El Paseo, among other special locations. Fashion Week El Paseo

Eight nights of runway shows wrap up this weekend at El Paseo Jewelers Fashion Week El Paseo, at The Gardens on El Paseo. This is the west coast’s largest consumer fashion show. Palm Springs International Dance Festival: Indigenous Dance

Nickerson-Rossi Dance presents their inaugural Indigenous Dance Residency as part of the Palm Springs International Dance Festival, on Saturday, March 26 from 5:30–8 pm at Nickerson-Rossi’s Dance House. Featured guest Julenda Satow Freeman will navigate the audience through a series of three post-modern dance works that she choreographed in a week-long residency at the Nickerson-Rossi Dance Theater. Julenda will encourage conversations with the audience as she displays historic photography, film, and will share her family’s story to help understand the culture of Native American people. Little Shop of Horrors

Desert Theatreworks presents Little Shop of Horrors, running through April 10. A deviously delicious musical send-up of ‘50s B movies, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatergoers for more than 30 years, telling the story of a geeky florist shop worker who is secretly harboring a man-eating plant (voiced in this production by singing sensation Keisha D). Brothers of the Desert Book Club

The Brothers of the Desert Book Club (BODBC) is offering members and allies an opportunity to meet bi-monthly to discuss their community’s literary history, meeting initially on Zoom twice a month: the second and fourth Saturday afternoons, this weekend on Saturday, March 26 at 3:00 pm. The selection for March and April is “How We Fight For Our Lives” a memoir by poet Saeed Jones. HUMP! Film Festival

Dan Savage’s HUMP! Film Festival returns to the Palm Springs Cultural Center with all-new films for 2022 on Saturday, March 26 for two screenings: 6:30 and 11 pm. The HUMP! Film Festival is a showcase of sex-positive short films, all curated by Savage. These dirty movies are created by people who aren’t porn stars but want to be one just for this festival. MONDAY: GrubHub, NGLCC, DBA Grants

GrubHub and the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) are coming to the Coachella Valley to celebrate the resilience of LGBTQ business by presenting grants to six members of the Desert Business Association (DBA) on Monday, March 28 at 5 pm at Oscar’s. This special grant is meant to assist small and diverse restaurants and bars that serve food.
