You’ll see things like: the hair salon that created Judy Garland’s look for the The Wizard of OZ, and the nightclub where Joan Crawford got her start entering weekly contests as a dancer to win money so she could eat that week! Virtual Cinema at Palm Springs Cultural Center

The Palm Springs Cultural Center is offering some great new films this week in their Virtual Cinema program, including “The Citizen,” about a middle-aged African immigrant who fled a civil war, seeking to become a full-fledged citizen in Budapest [view trailer and get your V-ticket]. White Women as Allies

From our friends at the L-Fund comes a course to identify and combat racism: “White Women as Allies,” on Friday, July 24 from 4:30–6:00 p.m.  – Dr. Kelly Watson and Dr. Ronni Sanlo, both deeply involved in the current resistance movement since 2016, will discuss: Historical context -what brought us to this time, our visible and invisible identities, our identities as privilege, and what it means to be an ally and what we can do right now. They are looking to fill over 500 positions to prepare for the grand opening of their Cathedral City casino later this fall. TUESDAY: Big Gay Virtual Trivia Night

On Tuesday, July 28 from 4:15–5:15 p.m., the Fun & Games Dept. of Gay Desert Guide presents Big Gay  Trivia Night. This partnership with TheMenEvent will be hosted by Hugh Hysell. It’s a fun way to socialize and get people together for a night of fun, conversations and lunacy during all the craziness. The questions are designed to be fun, easy and sometimes educational. They cover common sense stuff to everyday things, movies, TV, stuff you learned in high school, pop culture, popular music and things that lots of people should know.
