San Diego Pride & Outfest This Weekend

If you're looking for hot gay fun outside the desert heat this weekend, we have two big events to tell you about!

Show your Pride on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 am. at the annual San Diego Pride Parade. This is the largest single-day civic event in the region, and is among the largest Prides in the United States, attracting over 200,000 cheering supporters of the LGBTQ community! The celebration also includes a two-day festival, plus dances, rallies, parties, 5k runs, and more throughout the weekend. More info

Outfest 2018, the Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival, is celebrating its 36th anniversary this year: July 12–22, 2018. The festival opens at the Orpheum Theatre with Kino Lorber’s “Studio 54,” Matt Tyrnauer’s vibrantly nostalgic documentary; and closes with FilmRise’s “The Miseducation of Cameron Post,” Desiree Akhavan’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner starring Chloë Grace Moretz. Back here in Palm Springs, we are looking ahead to the Palm Springs Gay & Lesbian film festival, Cinema Diverse! Mark your calendars for September 20–23, 2018 for the 11th Anniversary Edition. The selection committee is screening films this summer and accepting submissions now. More info


TryOUT Thursday: Mamma Mia 2 Advance Screening, Cocktail Party

Join Gay Desert Guide at D'Place's Mary Pickford 14 for a special screening of Mamma Mia! Big Bear ROMP 2018

Mountains of Men & Mischief are in store at Big Bear ROMP 2018, from Thursday, Aug 16–Sunday, Aug 19. The goal of Big Bear ROMP is to keep the party going by putting on a fun event that will bring hundreds of men back each year for mischief and more in the great outdoors. Women Behind Bars

The Desert Rose Playhouse, the Coachella Valley’s LGBTQ+ Stage Company, presents Women Behind Bars, a comedy by Tom Eyen, running through Sunday, July 29. In this hilarious satire on B-movies of the 1950's, Mary Eleanor, an innocent duped into crime, lands in the Greenwich Village Woman's House of Detention. The prison is presided over by a massive matron with a taste for sadism and female flesh. Our heroine, now Caged in the Big House, learns about life The Hard Way. Get tickets

Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre presents "this is a blank page. a story, in motion," a dance-theater work by Andrew Pearson, for three performances: Friday and Saturday, July 20 and 21 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m.  Pearson explores themes such as partnership, identity, sexuality, comfort zones, and more.
