'Tis the Season folks, and it's all about Holiday Merriment this weekend: We've got Men in Tights from the Palm Springs Gay Men's Chorus performing both Renaissance and modern classics, a Twisted Christmas Burlesque Show, Feliz NaviDivas with Chico's Angels, a Just Fabulous Holiday Party, Holiday Cheer from Nicky as Carol Channing, and lighting up the night with Robolights and WildLights! This is also the final weekend for Hairspray, and The Sound of Music and Christmas with the Crawfords continue. Plus, we have HOT DEALS, Happy Hours, and Top Articles of the week!


Men in Tights – A Holiday Spectacular

Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus launches their 20th Anniversary Season with “Men in Tights – A Holiday Spectacular.” from Friday, December 14 through Sunday December 16 at the Palm Springs Art Museum Annenberg Theater. In the first act, the chorus will present songs and dances to transport you to the Renaissance when knights were bold. “Christmas in the Cloisters,” Boar’s Head Carol,” “Sing We Now of Christmas” and “Gloucestershire Wassail” music from the time of Camelot will have you experiencing holidays with a king and his court.  After intermission you will step into the modern world and celebrate “A Long Christmas Dinner”, “Ring-A Ling-A Disco”, Stomp The Halls” and enjoy a country western “Dreydl, Dreydl. The chorus is especially pleased to present the choral premiere of “Christmas In Palm Springs” arranged for the chorus by accompanist Joel Baker. Get tickets


Twisted Christmas Burlesque Show 

On Saturday, December 15 at 8:00 p.m., Hotel Zoso presents a Twisted Christmas Burlesque Show with their version of Christmas cheer: fabulous burlesque and boylesque dancers that will be shimmying and shakin' just for you to get in the holiday spirit. FINAL WEEKEND:
Hairspray is presented by Palm Canyon Theatre through December 16. It's 1962 and teenagers Tracy Turnblad and her friend Penny Pingleton are avid Corny Collins fans. A chance to dance on the show is publicized, Tracy jumps on the opportunity. But not everyone is happy with Tracy's joining the show. The show's manager, Velma von Tussle, will do anything to oust Tracy, even if it has to include Tracy's friends Seaweed and Motormouth Maybelle. Get tickets

The Sound of Music, presented by Desert Theatreworks, opens this weekend, running through December 23. The holiday favorite features classic songs like “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and “Do-Re-Mi.” The story is based on the actual life of Maria von Trapp, who leaves an Austrian convent to serve as governess to the children of a widowed naval officer. Christmas with the Crawfords is presented by Desert Rose Playhouse through December 23. It’s Christmas Eve at Joan Crawford’s Brentwood mansion and Joan, Christina, and Christopher are awaiting the arrival of Hedda Hopper for a very special live radio broadcast. Unfortunately for Joan, she’s about to receive a houseful of celebrity guests, including Judy Garland, Katherine Hepburn, Gloria Swanson, and Ethel Merman, just to name a few. Chico's Angels in Feliz NaviDivas

Chico's Angels return to Oscar's Cafe & Bar by popular demand for perofrmances of Feliz NaviDivas on Saturday, December 15 at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 16 at 2:00 p.mKay Sedia, Chita Parol and Frieda Laye will entertain you with a magical show featuring sparkling stories, seasonal music and their own take on the classic A Christmas Carol called: “A Chico's Christmas Carol.” The Angels have their cha cha stockings hanging on the fireplace waiting for Santa to visit and bring these heavenly Angels tamales for all. On Friday, December 14 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. Join Roost Lounge and Golden State Gay Rodeo Association-Palm Springs for a Cowboy Social and Fundraiser. There will be country music, a little line dancing and raffles for some fun prizes. Happy hour prices will be in effect for the entire event. Funds raised will benefit GSGRA-Palm Springs. More info


Nicky As Carol Channing: Holiday Cheer

Robolights

Robolights is a massive, colorful display of sculptures and structures artist Kenny Irwin created from recycled materials and draped in 9 million Christmas lights. He began building the display when he was 12 and it now attracts visitors year-round, but especially around the holidays. It has been featured in a number of stories and reports by the national and international media. More info


“WildLights” Continues at The Living Desert

A Million Twinkling Lights adorn The Living Desert Zoo this Holiday Season for WildLights, open Friday and Saturday nights now through December 15, and then daily from December 19 through 24. The holiday spirit shines as guests partake in fun festivities including the popular, sparkling tunnel of lights synchronized to holiday music and life-sized, illuminated desert animal lanterns such as cheetahs and giraffe.
