This weekend in your Gay Desert Guide: Dining Out For Life was Thursday, with over 70 restaurants participating, and you can consider it an early kickoff to a big gay weekend here in the desert: Meet the Museum brings the culture on Friday and White Party keeps the thumpa-thumpa music going all weekend long. Meanwhile, we have the East Coachella Valley Pride Festival on Saturday, and Stagecoach brings country music, festival-style, to Indio. Desert's Got Talent will raise funds for Boo2Bullying, and check out our weekly theatre roundup too!
If you haven't yet checked out the Warhol exhibit currently running at the Palm Springs Art Museum, here is the perfect opportunity: Meet the Museum is back on Friday, April 27 at 6:00 p.m., and this year it is the only White Party event celebrating LGBT artists. Andy Warhol: Prints from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family spans the Museum’s main floor galleries. This comprehensive collection consists of more than 250 pieces, including some of the artist’s most iconic works, such as Marilyn (1967), Campbell’s Soup I and II (1968), Sunset and Mao (both 1972). Michael Childers: Having A Ball features images of anonymous merrymakers at the 1975 Los Angeles drag ball, “Flaming Creatures,” as well as portraits of the enigmatic Warhol and members of his famous New York studio, The Factory, among others. Enjoy both the Warhol and Childress exhibitions, in addition to a bar, food, and DJ. VIP Tickets (includes valet parking in the North Parking lot and a one-year museum membership) are $150 and include a private preview and reception from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. General Admission is $75. Evening Under the Stars Just One Week Away
Evening Under the Stars is now just one week away:May 5 at 5:30 p.m. Thepremier fundraiser for AAP Food Samaritans celebrates its 25th Anniversary at the O’Donnell Golf Club, literally under the stars. A short awards program will recognize a few inspirational honorees, followed by a delicious dinner, and a performance by the incomparable Gladys Knight.
