Positive Life Series: Cannabis Research

The Positive Life Series is a monthly community HIV/AIDS seminar series presented by HIV+ Aging Research Project Palm Springs (H+ARP), and the topic for Tuesday, September 3 is “Cannabis Research at UCSD – Neuropathy and Cannabis.” Light supper is served at 6:00 with program beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Sinatra Auditorium at Desert Regional Medical Center. Palm Springs Community Forum with Geoff Kors and J.R. Roberts

Back by popular demand, the City of Palm Springs invites everyone interested in City affairs to a Community Forum on Wednesday, September 4, from 5:30–7:30 p.m., hosted by Mayor pro tem Geoff Kors and Councilmember J.R. Roberts at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The event will be conducted more as a “community conversation” so that issues of importance can be discussed in a less formal atmosphere than a typical Council meeting. In addition, the City Manager and Department Heads will be present to answer questions and listen to public comments. More info

Art Museum Summer Film Series Wraps Up with “Zabriskie Point”

On Thursday, September 5 at 6:00 p.m. the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Annenberg Theater present the final film in the FREE Summer Film Series: “Zabriskie Point” (1970), a counterculture celebration of the unrestrained romance between an undergraduate dreamer and a hippie student, directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. The film series, themed as “Summer of ’69” celebrates the 50 years since the end of the 60’s with films reflecting the climate of the time. Square Dancing Fall Classes Begin Sept. 9

Boots in Squares, Coachella Valley’s premier LGBTQ square dance club, starts Fall Classes on Monday, September 9 at the air conditioned Cathedral City Senior Center. Boots in Squares is one of the top three largest clubs in the IAGSDC (International Association of Gay Square Dance Clubs) as well as one of the fastest growing. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, the Marks Art Center at College of the Desert would like to invite artists to submit works of art that speak to the LGBTQ experience of activism and pride over the last 50 years.
