Aging Positively Conference 2019

The 4th Annual HIV & Aging Conference is Wednesday, September 18 from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. at the Joslyn Senior Center. Gay Desert Guide’s very own Brad Fuhr will serve as emcee, introducing informational and Q&A segments on Financial and Legal Planning, Isolation & Loneliness, Medicare and Prescription Drug Coverage. Cat City Drag Race Continues at The Barracks

Help the Cathedral City Gay Bars find the “Royal Highness of Cat City” during the Cathedral City Drag Race, running September 9 through October 7. Nine contestants will be scored by local celebrity judges on originality, themed outfit, personality, and performance. With weekly prizes and audience favorites, the contestant with the most points at the finish line wins the title! Hosted by Anita Treadmill with music by DJ Galaxy from KGAY 106.5. – The next location will be The Barracks on Monday, September 16 from 6:00–9:00 p.m., and continuing every Monday at a different location “across the 111 catwalk.”  More info

Outlandish Performance Series Adds Show Dates

The Palm Springs performance series Outlandish has added additional shows the lineup this fall–October 12 through November 24–which includes evenings with Fran Drescher, Margaret Cho, Coco Peru, Miss Richfield 1981, Leslie Jordan, and Randy Rainbow! Two new nights have been added: Emmy® nominated Randy Rainbow and his live band will now have a third performance on Sunday, November 24 at 5:00 p.m. and the hilarious Leslie Jordan has added a second show of “Overexposed” on Sunday, November 17 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for the entire Outlandish Palm Springs series have sold fast and there is anticipation that all six of these iconic performers will play to a full house. Cinema Diverse Opens Thursday

Cinema Diverse: The Palm Springs LGBTQ Film Festival celebrates its 12th anniversary at the Palm Springs Cultural Center, starting this week. The festival will run for two weekends: Thursday, September 19 through Sunday, September 22 at the Palm Springs Cultural Center and continues Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28 at the Mary Pickford Theatre in Cathedral City.
