Margo Rey at Jazzville Palm Springs

Jazzville Palm Springs presents Margo Rey with an all-star quintet on Wednesday, October 23 from 7:00–9:00 p.m. at Wang’s in the Desert. Margo has a rich career of performance and songwriting, including eight Billboard Top 20 hits! She is joined by Oscar Hernandez on piano, Rene Camacho on bass, Ramses Rodriguez on drums, Justo Almario on sax, and Kenton Youngstrom on guitar. Musical Mondays at Acqua: “Nunsense”

Acqua California Bistro and David Green’s Musical Theatre University continue their outstanding and very entertaining series of dinner theatre with “Nunsense,” (the second longest-running musical in Off-Broadway history). This production stars Tony-nominated actress Jonelle Allen and a talented cast of alumni from MTU for run of Monday evening performances, continuing Monday, October 21 and for three more weeks. Sexually Transmitted Infections at Any Age

The LGBT Community Center of The Desert and Eisenhower Health present Sexually Transmitted Infections at Any Age on Wednesday, October 23 from 5:30–6:30 p.m. at The Center. Join James Adams, MD, Eisenhower Health for a discussion on sexually transmitted infections and your healthcare options. “The Birdcage” Interactive with Among Friends

Join Among Friends for another cocktail party and interactive screening of “The Birdcage“, the Mike Nichols remake of “La Cage Aux Folles,” starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. The comedy features a flamboyant gay couple who attempt to “play it straight” for their son’s prospective in-laws. Dress in your most flamboyant garb for the cocktail party starting at 6:00 p.m. with doors to the theatre opening at 7:30 for an audience-participation interactive screening of the film. “Queer Genius” Film Screening

Come to the Palm Springs Cultural Center for a special screening of “Queer Genius” on Thursday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m. presented by Lesbo Expo.  “Queer Genius” is directed and produced by Catherine Pancake, exploring four visionary queer artists breaking down barriers in their creative fields as they confront fame, failure, censorship, family, gender, and sexuality. The film features intertwined portraits of Eileen Myles, Barbara Hammer, Jibz Cameron, and Black Quantum Futurism. Get tickets


Palm Desert Concerts in the Park are Every Thursday in October

On Thursday, October 24 at 6:00 p.m., “The Pack” takes the stage at  the Palm Desert Civic Center Park for the latest in the City’s free Concerts in the Park. Held on the terraced lawn of the Civic Center Park Amphitheater, music lovers can enjoy this Rat Pack tribute band this week, and next week return for the final concert in the series, with Dead Man’s Party (an Oingo Boingo tribute band) on Thursday, October 31. The Center’s 10th Annual “Center Stage” Fundraiser

The Center Stage fundraiser is turning 10, and to celebrate, The LGBT Community Center of the Desert is turning back the clock to throw a big 80s party on Friday, October 25! Coco Peru at Outlandish Performance Series

Coco Peru returns to Outlandish on Saturday, October 26 at 8:00 p.m. at the Palm Springs Cultural Center as part of the Outlandish Palm Springs performance series. Coco is described by Lily Tomlin as “one of the last great storytellers” and in her brand new show, “Have You Heard”  Coco reminisces about her long career as a drag legend, performing some of her favorite monologues and songs, as well as some new stuff too. George Zander Candlelight Vigil & March

On Saturday, October 26 at 6:00 p.m., join in memory of all victims of hate crimes on the 4th anniversary of the day George and Chris Zander were attacked in downtown Palm Springs. Reflect, remember, and stand up against hate violence, and help carry forward the social justice efforts that defined George Zander’s life and honor his memory so that no over individual falls victim to a crime of hate.Vigil begins on La Plaza at Grand Central and marches through the heart of downtown Palm Springs. Weekend Theatre

“Priscilla, Queen of the Desert opens, while “Die Mommie Die” presents its final weekend of performances, and “Mamma Mia!” continues. Plus, a special benefit featuring recent Broadway musicals!

Palm Canyon Theatre presents Priscilla Queen of the Desert from Friday, October 25 through Sunday, November 17. This musical is based on the hit movie, telling the heartwarming adventure story of three friends who agree to take their show to the middle of the Australian outback. Desert Ensemble Theatre Company opens the season with their signature musical revue, benefiting the company’s Theatre Internship Program and Scholarship Fund. On the Twenty-First Century features songs from Broadway musicals that debuted in the past 20 years, performed by some of the area’s most popular performers.
