Palm Springs Veterans Day Parade

The City of Palm Springs proudly presents the 23rd annual Palm Springs Veterans Day Parade on Monday, November 11 at 3:30 p.m. in downtown Palm Springs. The parade begins at Ramon Road and Palm Canyon Drive and heads northbound on Palm Canyon Drive to Alejo Road. The parade lasts approximately one hour and concludes with a post-parade patriotic concert and fireworks finale at the intersection of Amado Road and Palm Canyon Drive. More info

Everything You Wanted to Know About Kink…

The LGBT Community Center of The Desert presents “Change It Up,” on Tuesday, November 12 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. This monthly interactive discussion group for queer men focuses on topics to improve your quality of life, with a combination of psycho-educational presentations paired with a process group. This will also be a positive opportunity for social engagement and community building for participants. This month’s topic: “Everything you wanted to know about kink but were afraid to ask.” More info


Drag Queen Story Hour Featuring Bella da Ball

On Tuesday, November 12 at 6:00 p.m. Bella da Ball will present Drag Queen Story Hour at the Palm Springs Public Library, capturing the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and giving kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. Big Queen Bingo to Benefit Sanctuary Palm Springs

The next Big Queen Bingo will benefit The LGBTQ Sanctuary Palm Springs Sanctuary House, on Wednesday, November 13 from 5:30–9:00 p.m. at Hotel Zoso. Concert pianist and raconteur John Bayless performs the west coast premiere of One Hand, One Heart – My Music, My Life on Wednesday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m. presented by The Waring International Piano Competition. In this play, Bayless shares his journey from Texas youth to coming out in New York and discovering love, to world renowned concert performer to his resilience and return to the concert stage after a stroke. Jazzville: Chadwick Johnson

Jazzville Palm Springs presents Chadwick Johnson on Wednesday, Nov 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Wang’s in the Desert. A series of workshops, “The World, According to LGBTQ,” is presented by the reconciling United Methodist Church of Palm Springs on Thursday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. The topic for the night is “Gender Identity and Pronouns.” There will be Q&A at each event. Melissa Etheridge at the McCallum Theatre

On Thursday, November 14 at 8:00 p.m., legendary rock icon Melissa Etheridge brings “The Medicine Show” to the McCallum Theatre stage. UPCOMING: An Evening with Ryan Cassata

The Transgender Health and Wellness Center presents An Evening with Ryan Cassata & Silent Auction on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Transgender Day of Remembrance Resource Fair and Vigil, to be held on November 20 at Palm Springs City Hall. Ryan Cassata is a singer, songwriter, actor and activist who has appeared on Larry King Live and The Tyra Banks Show. He has performed at LGBT music festivals and at popular music venues such as Whisky a Go Go, The Saint, The Bitter End, SideWalk Cafe, Turf Club and Bowery Poetry Club. He will speak on his journey to be accepted by family and loved ones, and the need to support Transgender Equality. Get tickets


UPCOMING: Cookies, Cocktails, and Crazy Sweaters

Fresh on the high heels of the very popular Cat City Drag Race, a new contest is taking place at six bars in Cathedral City: Cookies, Cocktails and Ugly Sweaters will feature an “Ugliest Sweater Contest” with celebrity and audience judges, with prizes each week leading up to a Golden Pass prize valued at $600. The evening is hosted by Cat City Drag Race Winner Angelique VaGorgeous, with music by DJ Galaxy. Desert Hot Springs celebrates Pride on Saturday, November 16 from 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. at Cabot’s Pueblo Museum. Explore booths representing community services, retail, art, local business, and information organizations. Live entertainment and food vendors, face painting, and arts & crafts for the kids round out this family-friendly event. Admission is free. More info


“Murder on the Orient Express” presented by Desert Theatreworks

Desert Theatreworks is one of the first theatres in California to present a brand-new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s most popular tale, Murder on the Orient Express, by Ken Ludwig, through November 24 at the Indio Performing Arts Center. Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again. Get tickets


Leslie Jordan brings “Overexposed” Show to Outlandish Performance Series

Leslie Jordan returns to Outlandish for two shows: Saturday, November 16 at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday November 17 at 8:00 p.m. at the Palm Springs Cultural Center as part of the Outlandish Palm Springs performance series. Leslie invites his audiences behind-the-scenes of his childhood and career, offering a charming & hilarious look-back at his life experience as a flamboyant youth raised as a Southern Baptist, as well as the “unbelievable real-life stories” and treasured anecdotes from his renowned stage and television performances. “Hand to God” at Dezart Performs

Dezart Performs presents Hand to God, The Broadway Smash Hit Comedy by Robert Askins, running through Sunday, November 17. Think of it as “The Exorcist” meets “Sesame Street.” After the death of his father, meek Jason finds an outlet for his anxiety at the Christian Puppet Ministry in the devoutly religious, relatively quiet small town of Cypress, Texas. This Weekend at The Purple Room: Black Market Trust and Todd Murray

“Rainbow Relatives” Author Lecture

Author Sudi (Rick) Karatas will present a lecture on his book, “Rainbow Relatives,” on Saturday, November 16 from 2:30–4:00 p.m. at the Palm Springs Public Library.
