Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast – Friday
The 2018 Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast – Coachella Valley will take place on Friday, May 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The program will honor the memory of Harvey Milk, an American hero, and recognize this year's honorees: activists Cleve Jones and Mandy Carter. Also honored will be LaQuinta High School graduate and UC Santa Cruz student Raziq Noorali as the Harvey B. Milk Outstanding Student of the Year, and Allysia Park and Sybil Smit as the 2018 Gay-Straight Alliance Advisors. Learn more
Stonewall Democrats May Meeting
The Desert Stonewall Democrats will be meeting on Tuesday, May 15 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Senior Center. This month's topic is Unions and Labor. Unions have suffered mightily, losing members and influence for several decades now. Most Democrats believe that they are still important and would like to see them restored to their previous status. NEW 'Walk-In' Sexual Health Clinic at Eisenhower
On Wednesday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m., the LGBT Community Center of the Desert and Eisenhower Health welcomes Jon Colbert, NP as he presents information on Eisenhower's NEW 'Walk-in' Sexual Health Clinic in the Rimrock Center. Services include: STD Testing & Treatment, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), HIV Testing, Hepatitis C Testing, HPV related anal cancer screening. DIGICOM Film Festival – Thursday
DIGICOM Learning's annual digital storytelling student and teacher film festival celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with the theme "Rise and Shine" on Thursday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m at the Richards Center for the Arts in Palm Springs. DIGICOM Learning empowers students and teachers to express themselves by working together to produce short videos about their lives and the world around them. The festival received a record number of submissions this year, and the evening highlights Palm Springs Unified student- and teacher-produced films. More info
