Here’s an opportunity to do something meaningful for our community in less than 15 minutes! Participation in this survey gives important feedback to our LGBTQ community media and organizations, and provides valid data to companies interested in serving our community, sponsoring our charities, and supporting their LGBTQ employees.

DBA Networking Mixer at Stonewall Gardens

On Monday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. the Desert Business Association will hold their mixer at Stonewall Gardens, an LGBT affirming senior Assisted Living Community. See old friends and meet new ones while learning about the work of Stonewall Gardens: tour their facility and learn about how they are meeting the needs of their Senior residents in our community. Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast

The Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast, taking place Wednesday, May 15 from 9:30–11:00 a.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center, will feature 1,000 attendees, the largest in the nation to commemorate Harvey Milk’s legacy and the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall. Join in to honor Harvey Milk and celebrate his legacy as a political and community leader who stood for justice and equality across the intersections of oppression, self-identity, and self-determination. The morning will feature a keynote speaker and this year’s recipient of the Harvey B. Milk Leadership Award of the Coachella Valley. Get tickets

The Golden Age of Musicals, with Stephen Radosh

Director, actor, lecturer–and Gay Desert Guide theatre reviewer–Stephen Radosh will present one of his video presentations on the history of Broadway on Tuesday, May 14 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral City Senior Center. This month he will focus on five Musicals: Fiddler on the Roof, Camelot, Carousel, Oklahoma and Funny Girl…all from the 1940s through 1960s. There’s no charge to attend and the public is welcome! Remembering Stonewall

Join Palm Springs resident John Knoebel, an early activist in NYC’s pioneering Gay Liberation Front (1969- 1972), for an in-depth discussion of the 1969 Stonewall Riot on Tuesday, May 14 from 5:30–7:00 p.m. at the LGBT Community Center of the Desert. The evening will feature screenings of short oral history interviews with three actual Stonewall veterans from the archives of the website, ”OUTSPOKEN-LGBTQ.ORG: Oral History from LGBTQ Pioneers.” RSVP requested. Belly Flop Stand-up Comedy at The Ace

The Ace Hotel’s weekly free comedy show, Belly Flop, is bringing Neil Hamburger back for a reprise performance on Wednesday, May 15 at 9:00 p.m. in the Amigo Room. Long Beach Pride is May 18–19

The 36th Annual Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride Parade and Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 & 19, with this year’s theme stated as “A Million Moments of Pride, Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall.” Parade Grand Marshals include Kate Linder, Delta Work, Equality California, and more. Performers at the festival’s four stages include Big Freedia, Ada Vox, DJ Lez Lee, Alien Dance Band, Brandon Stansell, DJ Rick, Pablo Montero, and Diana Reyes. Fun Zones for families, teens, and seniors will feature activities, music and resources chosen just for those specific groups! More info


Palm Springs Hot Rodeo Royalty Contest

GSGRA – Greater Palm Springs Chapter Present the Mr. Miss & Ms. Palm Springs Hot Rodeo 2020 Royalty Contest on Friday, May 17 at 6:00 p.m at Chill Bar. Hot Mess in a Dress, taking place Saturday, May 25 at 6:00 p.m. at Neon Oasis, is a fundraiser benefiting The Trevor Project and Palms Springs’ QChella Media, an LGBTQ+ founded, directed, and managed non-profit media corporation serving the needs of the community. This will be a night of false lashes + true hilarity… high hair + even higher spirits… stiff drinks + stiff, stubbled upper lips…think tragic pageant. For entry, guests should wear dresses (for men) and women should come as either as Drag Kings (aka, boy drag) or as Drag Queens (aka, exaggerated femme).
