Gay Desert Guide Collage Jul 5 2021

Brad Fuhr CaricatureThe second half of 2021 didn’t come in with a bang in Palm Springs. Instead, a laser light show whelmed many as a fireworks alternative. We hope the city will rethink this in future years.  I was at ground zero for two Chicago fireworks celebrations concluding my summer vacation.  Chicago is the wild wild Midwest of pyrotechnics, where tons of illegal bangers come in from Indiana and other foreign lands.  The city put together a last-minute display that dazzled millions on Saturday, with smaller neighborhood displays on Sunday.
But now we’re back with part two of 2021 and many signs of continued reopening progress in Greater Palm Springs.  We note the opening of the East Valley’s new location for LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert. Progress is being made on the Palm Springs location as well with a grand reopening soon.  Also of note is The Orange Clinic at DAP Health with an homage to the color that launched Get Tested Coachella Valley as a successful model for HIV testing protocols across the country.
Read my blog below for other news for the LGBTQ communities we serve here at GayDesertGuide.LGBT.  Some exciting news is on the horizon and I can’t wait to share it with you!
