Among Friends Presents “A Christmas Story”

It’s Christmas in July at The Palm Springs Cultural Center when Among Friends presents “A Christmas Story” Interactive on Wednesday, July 24 from 6:00–9:30 p.m. Among Friends will bring the movie to life like never before with special props and shadowcasting. Come at 6:00 p.m. in your favorite ugly Xmas shirt for cocktail party and Sexy Santa contest complete with snowball fight. Joint Bowling Mixer with Desert Business Association

The Desert Business Association joins the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce in hosting a regional Joint Bowling Mixer on Thursday, July 25 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Palm Springs Lanes. Attendees are encouraged to bring plenty of business cards for networking. GCVCC Regional Mixers draw Chamber members and potential members from across the Coachella Valley, regularly hosting more than a hundred professionals from a variety of industries. This fun event features local fare from the host venue, a raffle contest and more! RSVP requested due to bowline lane limits. More info


Newly-Remodeled Fire Station No. 4

The South Palm Springs Fire Station is looking spiffy! On Tuesday, July 23 from 9:00–10:00 a.m., join the City Council, Palm Springs Fire Department, PS Chamber, Measure J Commission and the Twin Palms Neighborhood Organization at the grand opening ribbon-cutting for newly remodeled Fire Station No. 4 in South Palm Springs, brought to you in part by your Measure J tax dollars. In addition, the Twin Palms Neighborhood Organization will present a $1,500 check to PSFD for a new built-in barbeque. Refreshments will be on hand and everyone is invited. More info


PS Chamber Mixer at Bouschet

On Tuesday, July 23 from 5:00–6:30 p.m., the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce July Mixer will be held at Bouschet, a deli, market, and specialty store specializing in foods, wines, liquors & beer not available anywhere else. Everyone is welcome to come out and sample specialty wines and cheeses! Free if you are a Palm Springs Chamber member, $15 for guests. More info

 


Gay For Good SoCal Chapters Big Queen Bingo Fundraiser

Join Gay For Good at Hamburger Mary’s in Ontario for a fun night of Big Queen Bingo on Monday, July 22 from 5:00–9:00 p.m. Hosted by the legendary Tommi Rose, Big Queen Bingo features live performances, drag characters, special guests, and of course BINGO, all while raising money for the national LGBTQ volunteer organization, Gay For Good. 5:00 p.m. seating, Games at 7:00 p.m. RSVP today


80’s Retro Mid-Summer Dance Party

Green Room Theatre Company Presents: “Sister Act”

The feel-good Broadway smash Sister Act: A Divine Musical Comedy is presented by the Green Room Theatre Company from Wednesday, July 24 through Friday, July 26 at the Indio High School Performing Arts Center. When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be a found: a convent! Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival

Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival is eleven days of not to be missed world-class films, panels, and parties, from July 18–28 at various locations around L.A. Each summer the festival screens more than 150 feature and short films to an audience more than 40,000 people, it’s the oldest film festival in Los Angeles and is considered the preeminent LGBTQ film festival in the world. Palm Springs Art Museum Summer Film Series

On Thursday, July 25 the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Annenberg Theater present the next film in the FREE Summer Film Series: “Shampoo” (1975), a blistering satire of presidential and sexual politics directed by Hal Ashby and starring Warren Beatty and Goldie Hawn. The film series, themed as “Summer of ’69” celebrates the 50 years since the end of the 60’s with films reflecting the climate of the time. Screenings continue every two weeks through July and August with “Medium Cool,” “The Rain People,” and “Zabriskie Point.” Specialty cocktails created specifically for each film will be available in Persimmon Bistro 4:00–6:00 p.m. More info
