Saturday: Gay Virtual Speed Dating for Men Ages 55+
Having just had the ladies’ event last weekend, the next Speed Dating offering from the the Fun & Games Dept of Gay Desert Guide will be Gay Virtual Speed Dating for Men Aged 55+, hosted by Shann Carr, on Saturday, August 22 at 7:00 p.m. Speed dating has never been more fun! We will make introductions, and you go on several short one-on-one dates (each lasting 5-6 minutes) then mingle with everyone with a fun game and have a real conversation about dating. This event is exclusively for men 55 and over (see our other speed dating events for other ages and themes). You could end up with a date, a friend or a business connection! Get tickets
Take Out! Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage 2020
This year’s Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage looks different but the spirit is the same: supporting our restaurants with take out from August 17 – September 22. (Patio dining where available). Your $10 wristband will encourage you to enjoy your favorites and try some new spots this summer for only $5, $10, or $15 – specials vary by location. It is a WIN-WIN-WIN! Not only do local nonprofits sell the wristbands to fundraise but restaurants also stay busy during this time and residents get to enjoy delicious food and cool treats! More info
Curbside Pickup Fundraiser for Transgender Health & Wellness

Understanding Diabetes
The LGBT Center of the Desert and Eisenhower Health presents Understanding the Basics of Diabetes, Nutrition, and Common Myths on Wednesday, August 19 from 5:30–6:30 p.m. on Zoom. Unfortunately there are a lot of common myths about diabetes and nutrition that are simply not true. That is why it is important to get the facts, so you can make better decisions to manage your diabetes. Knowing how to create a strong foundation of education will help you to manage your diabetes in everyday situations. More info
Outfest Goes Virtual, Starting Thursday
Outfest 2020 will take place from August 20–30, bringing over 160 films to their streaming platform, as well as a series of outdoor drive-in screenings in Malibu. One All-Access Pass will serve as your ticket to new centerpiece films, premieres, and hand-curated programs debuting daily. Select packages of Festival Favorites will also be available for direct purchase.
