Villagefest Closed on Thanksgiving
 

Just a handy reminder for you: VillageFest, the Thursday night street fair that runs year-round on Palm Canyon Drive, is taking a break this Thursday due to the Thanksgiving holiday. VillageFest will resume its regularly scheduled hours from 6:00–10:00 p.m. on Thursday November 29, 2018.


 

Blame it on Bianca Comedy Tour

The Desert Tennis Association presents Blame it on Bianca Del Rio on Friday, November 23 at 9:00 p.m. This Season 6 winner of RuPaul's Drag Race is an iconic comedy queen, rounding out her 3rd solo world tour, “Blame it On Bianca,” with a final stop in Palm Springs. Bianca is brought to you by the Desert Tennis Association (DTA) which will continue its long-time support of AAP – Food Samaritans by donating the proceeds from the upcoming 25th Annual Palm Springs Open. The Palm Springs Open is an international tennis tournament run by the DTA that attracts more than 300 LGBT players from around the world to Palm Springs over Thanksgiving weekend.  Takes place at Mission Hills Country Club, the Monterey Country Club, and Desert Princess. Grooves at the Westin feat. Special EFX

Grooves at the Westin presents their second of three concerts this season with Special EFX All-Stars feat Chieli Minucci, Elliott Yamin, Nelson Rangell on Saturday, November 24 from 7:00–10:00 p.m. at the Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa. For almost 20 years Special EFX has been one of smooth jazz's elite groups, selling tens of thousands of albums and virtually defining the genre of smooth jazz. Get tickets


WildLights at The Living Desert

 

WildLights at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is celebrating 26 years by transforming the Zoo into a sparkling winter wonderland, beginning Friday, November 23and running select nights through MondayDecember 24. The holiday spirit shines as guests partake in fun festivities including the popular, sparkling tunnel of lights synchronized to holiday music and life-sized, illuminated desert animal lanterns such as cheetahs and giraffe, and much more. Get tickets


Roberta Linn LIVE In Concert

Oscar's Cafe and Bar presents Roberta Linn LIVE In Concert, in an ongoing appearance, Wednesdays from 7:00–9:00 p.m. through the end of 2018. Roberta Linn is an American singer and entertainer. She is most associated with the Rat Pack and the Las Vegas Strip, where she was a regular performer with Freddie Bell and the Bellboys in the 1950s and 1960s. From 1949 to 1954, she sang with the Lawrence Welk group, “The Champagne Ladies.” She began her Hollywood Career as an actress at the age of 4. Get tickets

Free LGBTQ “Pinot & Pilates” Intro Class (Post-Thanksgiving!)

Club Pilates and the Gay Desert Guide invite you to a free Intro Class at Club Pilates on Thursday, November 29 from 6:30–7:30 p.m. Pilates is a full-body workout that helps with strength, flexibility, posture and all-around fitness. The class begins at 6:30, followed by a mixer with wine and snacks. Even if you don't attend the class, come by for a glass of wine and a studio tour! More info

Everyday Heroes Honored

On Friday, November 30 from 5:30–10:00 p.m. at the Palm Springs Cultural Center, Desert AIDS Project honors local Everyday Heroes who've made an impact in our community. The annual event, now in its fifth year, features an outdoor reception, awards presentations, live entertainment and an after-party. Traditionally held on December 1, World AIDS Day, this year’s event will be held a day prior. 2018 honorees include Jeffrey Ewell, Willie Rhine, Edie Groesbeck & Rosanne Kumins, as well as the  2018 AIDS/Lifecycle Palm Springs Participants. Read more about the honorees here and get tickets here.
 

Christmas with the Crawfords at Desert Rose Playhouse

It’s Christmas Eve at Joan Crawford’s Brentwood mansion and Joan, Christina, and Christopher are awaiting the arrival of Hedda Hopper for a very special live radio broadcast–this is Christmas with the Crawfords, presented by Desert Rose Playhouse from November 30 through December 23. Unfortunately for Joan, she’s about to receive a houseful of celebrity guests, including Judy Garland, Katherine Hepburn, Gloria Swanson, and Ethel Merman, just to name a few. Festival of Lights Parade

The 26th Annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights parade is presented by the city of Palm Springs on Saturday, December 1 at 5:45 p.m. on Palm Canyon Drive. KMIR will broadcast the parade live. The annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade features lighted floats, equestrians, bands, autos, and celebrities. This event has consistently been rated as one of the best local events in the Coachella Valley, and one of the top 10 holiday parade events in the country. More info
 

Trixie Mattel: Now With Moving Parts

Following her crowning as the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars earlier this year, everyone’s favorite doll Trixie Mattel is returning–new and improved, on Saturday, December 1 at 8:00 p.m. at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. “Now With Moving Parts,” is a decoupage of brand new folk music and surrealist comedy that only Trixie Mattel could hot glue together- guitar picking, razor-sharp reads, and hair teased to the sky! Jazz at Sundown feat. Nona Hendryx

The Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival presents Jazz at Sundown, beginning Saturday, December 1 at 6:00 p.m.  with the electrifying Nona Hendrix at the Indian Wells Theater in Palm Desert.  Hendryx is probably still best known as a member of Labelle, the popular R&B group of the 70’s and 80’s headed by the legendary Patti Labelle. However, since then she has made her mark as a dynamic high energy entertainer across all musical genres from R&B to Pop and Jazz. In recent years she has been on the music scene touring with jazz royalty, multi Grammy-winning drummer, Terri Lyne Carrington.

Men of the Desert Fashion Show

Men of the Desert 9th Annual Fashion Show and Charity Luncheon is a benefit for Animal Samaritans, held this year on Sunday, December 2 from 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. Enjoy marvelous fashions selected by Susan Stein, and a magnificent luncheon, along with Handsome Hounds, all to raise money for this critically important Animal Rescue Program. Men in Tights – A Holiday Spectacular

Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus launches their 20th Anniversary Season with “Men in Tights – A Holiday Spectacular.” from Friday, December 14 through Sunday December 16 at the Palm Springs Art Museum Annenberg Theater. In the first act, the chorus will present songs and dances to transport you to the Renaissance when knights were bold. “Christmas in the Cloisters,” Boar’s Head Carol,” “Sing We Now of Christmas” and “Gloucestershire Wassail” music from the time of Camelot will have you experiencing holidays with a king and his court.  After intermission you will step into the modern world and celebrate “A Long Christmas Dinner”, “Ring-A Ling-A Disco”, Stomp The Halls” and enjoy a country western “Dreydl, Dreydl.
