The calendar happens to have served up Halloween as an unofficial lead-in to Palm Springs Pride this year, falling one day ahead of the Pride festivities!

Halloween on Arenas

Palm Springs Halloween on Arenas Road is Thursday, October 31 and along with entertainment from Grammy® Award-Winning artist Evelyn Champagne King and her band, the vivacious all-girl band Pulp Vixen and California favorites Probe 7 will perform. The infamous costume contest is back, with sign-up from 6:00 p.m.–7:45 p.m. and contest at 8:00 p.m. Gay Desert Guide will be on the scene from 6:00–9:00 p.m. with a Photobooth by CoachellaParty.com so you can get a commemorative photo after you’ve registered for the costume contest! Studio One 11 Halloween Party & Costume Contest

Palm Desert Concerts in the Park: Dead Man’s Party

Come to the Palm Desert Civic Center Park on Thursday, October 31 at 6:00 p.m. for a Halloween grand finale to the City’s free Concerts in the Park series. Dead Man’s Party, the Oingo Boingo tribute band, has been bringing you Boingo tunes live for over 18 years. This 8-piece band has been fashioned after the original Oingo Boingo lineup, with a front-man so convincing that people sometimes believe that they are actually watching Danny Elfman himself. FRIDAY Don’t Miss Pride Event: The Art of Pride

The Palm Springs Art Museum presents a brand new official Pride event, The Art of Pride, to kick off the celebration weekend on Friday, November 1 from 5:30–8:30 p.m. All three levels of the building will be open, including the museum’s two outdoor patios and the Annenberg Theater. Attendees can mingle and explore offerings from the permanent collection and current exhibitions, including Touching History, a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of New York’s Stonewall riots.

Kiehls and MAC will be giving out samples and MAC will be presenting Pride-inspired body painting on a live model. RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Morgan McMichaels and Delta Work will be on hand, along with DJ Kimberly S spinning, plus an open bar, appetizers, and Boomerang Photo Booth by Coachella Party. Get tickets

 

SUNDAY Don’t Miss Pride Event: VIP Pre-Parade Breakfast

Palm Springs Pride presents the official Pre-Parade VIP Breakfast on Sunday, November 3 from 8:00–9:45 a.m., just steps away from the parade staging area at Desert Regional’s El Mirador Tower Building. Celebrate and start the day with Pride honorees Alexander Rodriguez and Michael Green, plus Pride Honors Awards recipients, with a delicious hot breakfast, fruit buffet, mimosas, Effen bloody marys, screwdrivers and DJ music to get your dancing feet ready for the parade. Palm Springs Pride Parade Route and Festival

The Palm Springs Pride Parade goes from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, stepping off in the Uptown Design District at Tachevah and Palm Canyon Dr. and traveling south through downtown, ending at the entrance to the Pride Festival at Amado. Participants march in solidarity using their voices to ensure that every member of our community–including those who are the most marginalized—are acknowledged, included, and treated with dignity and respect.

 

Look for the Gay Desert Guide booth at the Pride Festival all weekend! We will be on Palm Canyon Drive, near the intersection with Tahquitz Canyon Way (Near Starbucks Reserve). Stop by, pick up our latest printed Gay Desert Guide Map & Guide, sign up for our newsletter if you haven’t already, or just say “hi” and “Happy Pride!”

Pride Weekend Architectural Bus Tours

For the first time, Modernism Week will offer its signature Premier Double Decker Architectural Bus Tours during Greater Palm Springs Pride, from Thursday, October 31 through Saturday, November 2, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Pride. These tours are one of the most popular events during Modernism Week, with knowledgeable guides taking attendees on a 2.5-hour open-air overview of significant civic and commercial buildings, as well as residential properties located within notable Palm Springs neighborhoods. Flagging in the Desert
