Brad Fuhr Caricature

What a weekend! Ross Mathews Bubbly Brunch graced the Loews Santa Monica hotel on Sunday with a recording of his Straight Talk with Ross Mathews Saturday. I had front row seats for both, and Ross will be back with KGAY for a new “fall season”. Deets forthcoming.

You’ll see pics on our socials @GayDesertGuide and @KGAY1065. It was the first time I’d seen Ross since his wedding and hubby Wellington accompanied him. He’s such a good sport – a doctor by education but now he’s in the spotlight and handling his new-found fame well.

ShortFest is front and center this week in #ILoveGayPalmSprings, but there are many opportunities to enjoy everything from theatre to LGBTQ+ history here and on our events calendar.

Our Gay Desert Guide Drag Correspondent, Dante Noto, has published his latest effervescent recap of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 7 (See all of his RuPaul Recaps here). Dante explains that this week, “the queens will enter the time machine to go back to the year 2000. There, they will perform in a Y2K girl group fantasy inspired by MTV’s TRL (Total Request Live)…The groups are introduced by Carson Gayly, played by the loveable Ross Mathews. I had to rewind the stream twice to determine if it was actually him. Only Ross could wear men’s clothes and look like a drag king!” Read the full recap of Episode 6: Total Ru-Quest Live [here].
