Silversun Pickups’ sixth album, “Physical Thrills,” unexpectedly took shape during the pandemic-induced hiatus, providing a silver lining to a dark time for the LA band. As the members found themselves stuck at home, guitarist and singer Brian Aubert, initially focusing on family, couldn’t ignore the new melodies brewing in his head. What started as an escape project turned into a unique musical journey, introducing fresh elements like “dream shanties,” gentler vocals, and horror-inspired sounds.
