Presented by the Palm Springs Public Library Foundation Pride on the Page is a two day book festival and official Palm Springs Pride event.
This special celebrity fund-raising event features Emmy and Golden Globe winning actress, SHARON GLESS. TV viewers worldwide know and love the iconic characters she has brought to life over the last five decades. Over 30 million viewers each week watched Gless as New York Police Detective Christine Cagney in the first hour-long drama to feature two females in the leading roles, CAGNEY AND LACEY, for six Emmy-winning seasons. Another generation of viewers fell in love with her portrayal of Debbie Novotny, a dirty-mouthed devoted mom to a gay son and confidant and loyal supporter to his gay friends, for all five seasons of Showtime’s daring smash series,QUEER AS FOLK.
She will be in conversation with her former co-star PETER PAIGE who began his career in Hollywood as an actor, guest starring in sitcoms and procedurals before eventually landing one of the leads in Showtime’s acclaimed hit QUEER AS FOLK. Since transitioning to writing/directing, Paige has co-created the long-running shows THE FOSTERS and GOOD TROUBLE, as well as pilots for everyone from ABC to Netflix.
This fund-raising evening event is part of a two-day festival that will present a collection of books written by LGBTQ+ affirming authors and/or for the LGBTQ+ community in November during Greater PS Pride. Our goal is to bring together thought-provoking, entertaining, and enriching subject-matter that communicates different viewpoints and represents various genres that will attract readers/people who have never experienced queer culture, and others who have made it the focus of their lives. The day time events will be in downtown Palm Springs at the Plaza Theatre and are free. There will be five different panels of authors each day, highlighting over 40 different authors and their works. Books will be for sale at the event courtesy of Follet Books and authors will sign throughout the day. These events are presented by the Palm Springs Public Library and The Palm Springs Public Library Foundation.
