Pride On the Page

Event Details

The Palm Springs Public Library Foundation (Foundation) presents Pride on the Page, a two-day book festival on November 4–5, 2022 as an official event of Greater Palm Springs Pride.

Pride on the Page is a free Book Festival that will present five panels each day of LGBTQ+ affirming authors and/or for the LGBTQ+ community and their books over the course of two days, November 4 – 5, 2022 from 10 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. during Greater PS Pride. Our goal is to bring together thought-provoking, entertaining, and enriching subject-matter that communicates different viewpoints and represents various genres that will attract readers/people who have never experienced queer culture, and others who have made it the focus of their lives. Our panel moderators will lead the authors through discussions of their work, hearing from their point-of-view, helping attendees to discover new authors or get reacquainted with long-time favorites!

To learn more about the Pride on the Page Book Festival, the appearing authors, schedule of events and to buy tickets to see Sharon Gless and Peter Paige, go to www.prideonthepage.org.

The event will held at the Plaza Theatre in downtown Palm Springs and talks will be an hour each with a break between talks allowing time for author book signings. A few of the panels scheduled are “Wonderous Words – New Fiction from LGBTQ+ Authors”, “The Heat Is On: Mystery & Mayhem in the Desert”, “Who Am I? Memoir and Memory from LGBTQ+ Authors”. The following authors are confirmed: Melissa Chadburn, Michael Craft, Alex Espinoza, Katherine V. Forrest, Rachel M. Harper, Michael Nava, Abdi Nazemian, Steven Rowley, Omar Shariff Jr., K.M. Soehnlein, Rebecca Walker, and Brian Sonia-Wallace, just to name a few!

The Saturday evening event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and feature Sharon Gless and Peter Paige. They will discuss her highly acclaimed autobiography, Apparently There Were Complaints, released in December 2021, sharing stories of their time together on Queer as Folk, and other topics. This is a ticketed event as a fund-raiser for the Palm Springs Public Library Foundation; tickets are $40 each, general admission. Following the program Ms. Gless will sign books, which will be for sale courtesy of Follet Books. The first 50 people to purchase tickets to the event will receive a complimentary copy of her book!
