Event Details

  • The LGBT Community Center of The Desert presents Open Air Drawing
  • 6 Weeks - Wednesdays
  • This class is for the student who wants to utilize our varied landscape and urban scenes to expand their drawing experience. Still life is wonderful, but there is a whole world outside full of interesting subjects to explore.
  • We will discuss relevant ideas such as depth and scale, creating interesting compositions, isolating details for effective drawings, and use of materials in an environment that is less forgiving than the class room. Mostly, we will spend the class time drawing. Some experience is required.
  • Please see website for list of required supplies.
  • About the instructor: Mike McLain earned his BFA, with specializations in drawing and sculpture, from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2008. In 2010 he received an MFA in studio art from Claremont Graduate University.
  • Mr. McLain currently serves on the board of the Palm Springs Art Museum Artist Council.
  • Cost:  Members: $100 | Non-Members: $125
  • Space limited.  Please call 760.416.7790 to register or for more information.
