Impressionism with an Edge

The Desert Art Center presents Impressionism with an Edge February 3–5, 2023 from 10 am to 4 pm. With an event each day, this one-weekend-only show features the work of painters Noreen Coup and Kathleen Strukoff. Both painters use palette knives to create oil paintings with bold colors and vigorous texture that evoke a strong sense of time and place.....much like their muses Monet and the iconic desert painter Agnes Pelton.

Noreen's paintings show water-related themes from her 2nd hometown of La Rochelle, in the southwest Charente-Maritime region of France.
Kathleen is known for her brilliant colors that capture the heady light of Palm Springs and our desert landscape.

The opening reception is Friday, February 3 from 5-7pm for chatting with the artists. On Saturday, February 4th, Noreen will demo her palette knife technique from 1-3 pm. Kathleen will be doing a "Paint Along" on Sunday from 1-3 pm for you will create, with her guidance, a desert scene using a palette knife.
