- Freebie Fridays is a win-win-win promotion for youth, Greater Palm Springs restaurants and local health officials to help disrupt the spread of Covid-19 through testing.
- In Riverside County, people ages 15-30 have the highest rates of Covid-19 positivity and the lowest rates of testing. In order to reach the goal of boosting the number of people getting Covid-19 tests in the 15-30 age range, an ad-hoc program has been developed where restaurants provide coupons/certificates for free food to encourage participation in testing among this age group.
- The Indio Fairgrounds testing operation will distribute food coupons every Friday to people who check-in for their Covid-19 test. The promotion began on Friday, December 11, 2020, and will continue each week on Fridays when the testing center is in operation. (The testing site is closed on Friday, Dec 25th and Friday, Jan 1st.)
- Whether you have symptoms or not, getting tested for COVID-19 helps protect your family, classmates, co-workers and friends who could be at risk.
- Make an appointment to get tested at the Indio Fairgrounds THIS FRIDAY and get a coupon for free local eats! It’s fast, easy and self-administered, with sponsors changing every week. #freebiefridays #gettested
- Coupons will change from week to week. Examples of coupons from sponsors include a free classic sandwich from Dickey’s BBQ and a free “bundtlet” from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
- The Indio Fairgrounds testing site is operated by Curative. It is open from Tues-Saturday 8:00am to 4:00pm. Curative provides self-administered PCR oral swab tests. The testing site is currently averaging 600 tests daily. Appointments are recommended and can be made at curative.com.
