The Palm Springs Art Museum presents the "Cocktail Cinema"Summer Film Series featuring four films with iconic soundtracks that reflect their time and place.
All of the films will be screened during the museum's Thursday Night Sessions with free admission from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Each film will be paired with a specially crafted cocktail prepared by That's The Spirit Mobile Bar. Although the films begin at 6:00 p.m., attendees are encouraged to get to the museum at 5:00 p.m. to purchase and enjoy one of the specialty drinks.

Thu., Jun. 15, 6:00 p.m.
Queen & Slim (2019), Rated R, 2h 12 m
After a first date, a young black man and woman (Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith) are pulled over for a minor traffic violation. When the situation escalates, a white policeman is killed and the couple is forced to go on the run. The soundtrack features various artists that honor the history and diversity of black music and aims to continue the legacy of artists who used their music as activism.

Jackson, and a soundtrack that is an eclectic mix of American rock and roll, surf music, pop, and soul.

Best Picture Oscar winner Moonlight presents three stages in the life of the main character — his childhood, adolescence, and early adult life — and explores the difficulties he faces with his sexuality and identity. The film’s original score was composed by Nicholas Brittell, who applied chop-and-screw techniques from a genre of southern hip-hop remixed to orchestral music.

Selena (1997), Rated PG, 2h 7m
The true-story rise of singer Selena who found success in the Spanish-speaking market and then sought mainstream stardom, only to be was tragically murdered at the age of 23. The soundtrack features some of her most popular songs which have been credited as helping to redefine Latin music and its subgenres Tejano, cumbia, and Latin pop.
Admission to Thursday Night Sessions is free. Cocktail Cinema is also free but requires advance registration here. Please be aware that registration does not guarantee entry as admission is based upon first come, first served in theater.
