California Dreamin' by the Desert Winds Freedom Band

The Desert Winds Freedom Band present their fall concert, California Dreamin' on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Richard Center for the Arts at Palm Springs High School.
Featured will be Barry Manilow’s ‘One Voice’, Rossano Galante’s exciting ‘San Andreas Landscapes’ a ‘Gold Rush Rag’, Saxophonist soloist Gary Bollard will be featured on Bella Beach, there’s a fun medley from the Mama’s and Papa’s and of course the pop hit California Dreamin’.
There will also be a wild ride with ‘Take the Ribbons’, a work inspired by the story of the first female stagecoach driver for the famous Wells Fargo stage line. Her first time to "take the ribbons" or reins was at age 14, in a harrowing night run alone through dangerous and untamed country. The music is unrelenting in conveying the sense of a high-speed race, careening through the night with danger lurking around every bend. Absolutely breathtaking!
The Jazz band will also play numbers like Route 66, 17 Mile Drive, I left My Heart in San Francisco and feature valley vocal favorites Charles Herrera and Keisha D. Don’t miss this exciting musical adventure!
